It is amazing how much water a camper canvas keeps out. However, I agree, there still will be some water in the back on occasion when you jump in it sopping wet. It also will get some in it landing fish and trolling for salmon. However, other than that, mine stays remarkably dry with the canvas back.
Water or not water in the back, C-Dory boats, at least in my opinion, are great boats and very well built.
