Nick, sounds good but I don't think I will make it to your end of the pond this year. Still recuperating from a heart attack Sept.11(hard date to forget). Have to play it by ear this summer.
You planned any trips ? We usually go to Port Colborne for their Canal Days, Aug. 1 long weekend. A good time, tall ships etc. We stay at the Sugarloaf Harbor Marina. A bit noisy in the transient section that weekend but they have a section where they put smaller fishing boats. If you ask they will put you in there(much quieter). They do have a 2 night minimum that weekend though. 3 years ago it was rough coming home, took us 7 hours(53miles). That is the problem going somewhere for a weekend. If the weather is bad on the last day when you want to return, you are faced with a bit of a dilemma.
Our summer place is between Turkey Point and Port Dover. As you probably know, a lot of the "ports" around Lake Erie are no longer such. The once mighty pier at Port Ryerse is now just a shoal. There is a orange marker at the end of it but most of it is awash and it still claims an occasional prop. I remember back in the 60's at Port Dover seeing the big lake freighters at the pier.
If you ever make it up this way give me a shout. You can clear in at Port Dover Customs Dock. The marina usually has transient space, $1.55ft. with hydro/water. Turkey Point has more space for transients but you almost need a gps to find your way into your assigned slip! It is the largest fresh water marina in Canada.
Regards, Rob
