C-Dory design changes over time

Hi, I'm in the market for a new or used C-Dory 22 Cruiser or similar style of boat. I am curious to know if there are any major design changes over the years that I should be aware of. I understand that they have been made in different factories over the years. Did the quality of the build change with each factory? Are there any years I should try to avoid or seek out? Many thanks for any help you can give me.

To my knowledge the boat started out as a angler 22 in the 1980's known as hunky -dory. In 1987 they changed the hull to have a little bit of a deadrise 2-5degrees at the transom . I had a 1999 . 22cd cruiser the placement of the bilge pump was at the door the gas tanks were 18 gallon each the water tank was under port seat 20 gallons . In 2000 they put in 20 gallon gas tanks and same bilge pump at rear door and I think a center opening window standard. Also in 2003or so they added a raised floor also you could buy a fiberglass floor I'm not sure what year ? I think in 2006 or 2007 they added bigger side steps to get into cockpit area and then end of 2007-2008 they changed to a fiberglass gelcoated interior and barber chairs standard . Please chime in if I'm off by a yr or so . I would buy a 2007 -2010 model with a fiberglass interior ,bigger side steps and 50 gallons of gas . Just my opinion . Thats one of the reasons we bought a 2006 cape cruiser bigger steps to get into cockpit and full finished fiberglass interior .

Thanks for the quick response. That helps a lot. Does anyone know what years each factory made the C-Dory? Also, anyone near Victoria that owns one and wouldn't mind me taking a look. I have never seen one first hand yet.

Thanks,

Glen

There are a few in your area, now if you really want to check them out, you could do a trip on the Coho ferry weekend after next and drip in at the Squim get together. You will see all the models of varying years. You are more than welcome at these events and am sure you can arrange for a ride on several different boats.

Glen,

Leroy and Shirley aboard Mamalena (a CD-22 Cruiser) live in Victoria. They are scheduled to be at the Sequim gathering too. There'll also be a 22 Angler here on Saturday. George Hone from Nanaimo has one of the latest CD-22s from Triton. He is currently on an extended trip however.

Let me know if you want info on the Sequim gathering. PM or e-mail from this post.

Glen, go to the Brat Map tab at the top of the page. It'll show you where boats are and what kind they are. Very handy.

Good luck with your search.
