I spoke to Angola Canvas today about a cover for my 16 Cruiser. The fellow there wasn't sure if his pattern would fit a 16 with a bow rail. Has anyone purchased a cover for a 16 Cruiser from Angola recently and if so does it fit a boat with the bow rail? The salesman thought that if the bow rail was an option his pattern would not likely fit it. Thanks Brian
 
I got a cover from Angola about 5 years ago for the 16 cruiser we had at that time. I told the guy I had a bow rail. a gps puck, and an anchor cradle. They said fine and produced a cover that fit as requested. It didn't seem like a big deal. They were making tweeks for this kind of thing rather routinely back then.

I have recently put a cover on our 16 cruiser. That's the good news, bad news is that I live in Boise. So that may not be much help. However we have a shop here that does an excellant job, and is adjacent to a jet boat dealer, so 95% of what he does is boats, and boats that often do long distance tows. We had a 22 cruiser and they made a cover for it. We sold it last year and bought a 16 cruiser and I had them cut down the cover for the 16, and ours does have a bow rail, as well as a swim platform. The thing they do that most shops don't is they use shock cord down the sides and attach it to hooks they install on the trailer frame. I have had the rig up to 75 in the passing lane and the cover is solid as a rock. If I can be of more help, let me know.

I am curious about your downsizing from the 22 to the 16. I have a 16 on order and after a lot of thought felt the 16 would fit for me. Do you ever miss the 22? What are some of the differences you have noticed having had the experience of both boats?
 
good question. I was going to ask the same thing. I bought a 16 becasue I heard really great things about them but I have to admit most people did try and sway me toward the 22. PLease let us know

About the 22 vs the 16. After running rivers for many years we decided to explore other places. And the C-Dory looked like the best fit. So we brought one home Jan 2001. It worked will for many years and we went to local places as well as the San Juans, Elliot Bay, Lake Washington, Lake Chelan, the Columbia at the Tri Cities as well as Portland to the Bonneville Dam, San Frnacisco Bay, Yellowstone Lake etc. However last year my wife, who has epilepsy, fell and cracked a vertebrae. She no longer has the strength and mobility she once had. What we learned with the 22 is that if there is much wind at all it is about a 2 person job to tie it up or load it, because the pilot has to get past the galley from the helm station to get to the cockpit to help tie it up before the wind pushes you someplace you don't want to be. And we often had some wind. That said, it was a great boat for what we did. Like many others on this site, we ordered the Wallas stove, and the shelves instead of the ice box, and the front opening windshield. At one point we spent 9 consecutive nights on it, and still liked each at the end of the trip. Ellen really likes boating and fishing, so we looked into the 16s as I felt that if necessary I could single hand it. And we would still be able to get on the water. Thus far that has proven to be true as the helm station is adjacent to the cockpit and the hull weighs less than half of a 22. When we looked at the 16s, I told Ellen we should be able to stay out at least one night on it, and she said no it will be good for at least two. So far all the trips have been day trips, so we will see. The downside, of course, is not as much room, and no front opening windshield. I've done a number of things to this one to improve the comfort and as you get going, I'd be glad to share them with you. One I'll share with you now is in regard to fuel tanks. The C-Squirt came with a 6 gallon tank. A 6 won't get you too far and there is no reserve. I do not like the idea of pouring gas from portable can into the 6 gallon on the water. I had a 3 gallon tank that came with the kicker for the 22 which I had never used as I plumbed the kicker into the mains. Since all these are Honda's the fittings are the same, it works on the 50. I also found that the 3 would fit in the storage area under the cuddy. So I use the 3 as a reserve and I bought a 2nd one so when I need it, I have 12 gallons aboard and can store 6 of them forward to help keep the weight off the stern, and the 3s are a lot easier to handle and fit under the cuddy better. It cost a little more to do it this way, but I am comfortable it is safer and easier to manage this way. I've run on quite a while but if you have more questions or want to know what else I've done let me know,

Hi Jack-Regarding the gas tanks, our 16 foot angler came with a big tank with a filler pipe plumbed up in the gunnel and an in-line separator. I'm not sure, but I think the tank is the same as one of the two that are found on 22 footers. I like the setup much better than the two 6 gallon red tanks we had on our previous 16 foot cruiser. Regarding single handing the boat, one thing I really liked on the cruiser was that the starboard window would open wide enough to get my head and shoulders out and easily grab the dock with a pole or set a bumper. Much harder on the angler where only the small angled window opens. On the other hand I like that on the angler I can reach the manual wiper from a seated position, which can't be done on the cruiser. All in all they're both great boats.

Guess I didn't realize you already had the boat so the tank issue was irrelevant. After talking to Sea Glaze who said they didn't know why the window stopped where it did, we cut the outer weather stripping away a couple of inches to increase the opening, which will help some when hooking the fender, although I can reach the cleat from the cockpit. The increase in the opening might get us a little more air and I am sure that if summer ever arrives we will want all we can get.
