C-Dory-C-Brats in Boat and Yacht Clubs

Even though C-Brats is the Premier C-Dory Yacht Pub, I Thought a thread on C-Brats who belong to Boat or Yacht Clubs could tell a bit about their other affiliations as well.

Since I started this thread ,I'll go first. The other club we belong to is the Tacoma Outboard Association, located near the Narrows Bridge. We joined so that we have a place where we could launch close to home, have private facilities, and wouldn't have to play Russian Roulette at Point Defiance. It isn't an "uppity" oufit, just folks who enjoy thier boating life. We still will launch at other faraway places, but we now have a "homeport". Also if anyone else in the area is interested they are always looking for new members.

My wife Cathy and I have been members of the Fremont (California) Sailing Club for the past 32 years where we have raced El Toros, FJ's, and LIdo 14's over the years. The club has been a wonderful experience for us, enabling us to meet and befriend a great number of close friends that we hold dearly and would never had a chance to meet otherwise. I have been commodore 5 times and held many other offices repeatedly such as Fleet Captain and Race Captain, spending over 20 of those years on the Board of Directors. I was Fleet Champion in the FJ Class 5 times and the Lido Fleet Champion for the last 8 years. After moving to Redding early last year, Cathy and I were made Lifetime Honorary Members of the club in November, only the second of over 750 couples to be so honored. Join a yacht, sailing, or boating club if you can. There's a source of a great number of new friendships among many wonderful, helpful people, just like the C-Brats. Joe and Cathy.

We are members of the Temiskawa Yacht Squadron, now frozen under about three feet of ice. Since we are residents of Nelson, NV, we are the most distant members of the Squadron -- and the source of winter daydreams for those poor frozen souls in Haileybury, Ontario dreaming of cruising on Nevada winter water.

Hi, and Happy New Year to all!

I'm a past-Commodore of the Concho Yacht Club in San Angelo, Texas. We were charter members of the Texas Yachting Association, and were engaged primarily in racing Sunfish, Thistle, and NACRA 5.2 Classes. Am currently Commodore of the New Mexico C-DOG Yacht Club, an extremely loosely-knit group of C-Dory owners in New Mexico and southern California. Membership in our Club, along with about $4 might get you a cup of coffee at Starbucks!
