Spectrum does not stock a patch paste 2 oz kit for c dory year 2000-2010
Anyone know the formula to mix it. Ie how much brown or black to white. Or do I have to trial and error it? So much easier if someone has already mixed it.
Thanks

You're probably going to have to mix and match it. Even if you got the factory color, your boat (~20yo) is probably a different color now due to sun effects. Everyone's boat is going to be a slightly different color.

If you're patient, mix and match is not difficult. Until you add catalyst, you have plenty of time to get it right. Once you think you've got it right, spread some of the unactivated gelcoat near where the repair is and compare. Walk away and come back in a few minutes and look at it again. Once you're satisfied with the match, add the catalyst and make the repair.

Just FYI: The Spectrum color match is also not perfect.

If you order the quart and pay the enormous fee, it is shipped with a slip of paper that says you will likely still need to color match it.

What I got from Spectrum was just barely acceptable for matching original gelcoat that had been covered up since the boat was new.

If you are going the DIY route, I went through several kits on different boats and have found the kit from RAYPLEX has the actual tones you need to get a good off-white match if you have the eyes to do it.

I have a 2008 22' cruiser, when I mixed gel coat I add a few drops of brown to the white base until I get a good match, I don't use any black or other color.

add a drop of a pigment at a time. I find mostly brown, minim yellow and blue. "Hatteras White" is the color paint I have used. Mix well after each color media addition.
