As you may know, it's hard to let go of these wonderful C-Dory's! But it’s time to send her to a new home...
She’s a 1988, re-powered with a modern 2006 4-stroke Honda 50hp. Something that stands out with this boat is that a lot of the original condition has been preserved (it's spent most of it's time in fresh water). For example, the gunwales are intact without any abandoned mount holes (there are a few on the dash). Also has the original seats, teak handles and roof rails. Bilge pump (Rule). 6gal portable tank, spare prop, other accessories included. (I’ll include a homemade down-rigger mounting board if you want to experiment with down-rigger location before drilling holes).
Very Seaworthy. As they says about these C-dory’s .. “In rough water, the boat will be OK. You, not as much”. They are like cork.
They don’t make these popular 16’ models anymore. Only bigger (much more expensive) versions are made by the current manufacturer.
MOTOR
Most 16's come with a 40hp motor. She has been re-powered with a strong 2006 4-stroke Honda 50hp. Low hours (less than 30) in the last 10 years, and well maintained. Recently serviced by Tacoma Boat, they say it's in great condition. New oil, filter, gear oil, fuel filter, spark plugs, thermostat. Spare prop. Also, brand new deep cycle battery.
TRAILER
The trailer has a new axle, new trailer jack in front, and.... the new submersible tail lights (with the groundsrewired up to the front of the trailer to avoid any corrosion!! - a common problem solved!)
INSIDE
Has a basic depth finder, a VHF radio, and I can throw in a portable GPS unit. None of these are the newest stuff but it’ll get you started. It’s a clean slate for someone to customize with their own personal choices for electronics. The rear cabin curtain has some wear, but will help keep you warm and dry on the cooler days.
OUTSIDE
Newly refinished teak handles and rails. There are some cosmetic blemishes on the hull from previous gel-coat/fiberglass repair (hard to color match). You can see them in the main picture if you look close. It was that way when I bought it 10 years ago. No issues. If you don't already know about C-Dorys, the unique hull design makes them remarkably efficient. You will want to slow down in rougher water for a smoother ride; however, they use much less gas, can go 20+mph on a lightweight 40-50HP motor, and can run a long time on a small 6 gallon tank (or two).
Reason for Selling:
My previous tow vehicle limited me to a 16'. She has been sitting unused for a few years because I didn't want to let her go, and it's really nice to have a 16' for day trips, fishing, etc. So easy to tow and launch! But I now have a bigger boat for family outtings.
