Buying used boat ... what to look for

I'm in the process of buying a used 2000 22 Cruiser. It has not received much TLC in the past. Needs bottom paint, good wax job, and lots of TLC inside. Other than that it looks in pretty good shape. Is there anything I should be looking for that is peculiar or common to these boats? The motor is another issue. It's going to the Honda shop for engine inspection but it has a lot of deep corrosion on the casing just below the top cover. Looks like salt water just ate it up. Anybody seen this before? Any/all comments appreciated. Thanks, Jim

Probably the most serious problem could be any water intrusion into the balsa core, look for loose fastenings, particularly around the transom and in the cockpit by the gas tanks. If you do a search on the site using the search box at the top left of any page, you can find a lot of info.

Oh, and there's a CBGT (C-Brat Get Together) right there in Oriental Sept 21-23. Click on THIS Link for info or see "Events" at the top of the page. Nothing beats meeting other owners and picking their brains!

Good luck
