any one interested in doing some civic volunteer work??????
My good friend is a boy scout leader of a local troop here in Stanwood/Camano Island. they are trying to put together a campout on Suicia Island near the end of June. They are having trouble finding boatage for approximatly 15 people. They contacted me to see if we as a group would be interested in helping out????????

Roger - that really depends on the exact date. I'm in Italy for much of June but if the timing is right, I could help.

(one of the other Rogers)

The dates for the campout are June 23 & 24
they would like to go out early on Saturday the 23rd and come home the afternoon of Sunday the 24th

they will have their own life vests and they will each have a pack that will weigh about 45 lbs.

there is no exact time or place to take off from and which way should we go?all to be determined

Any Sugestions????????????????????

Roger,

I just returned from a 3 day service trip to Sucia Island with the Service Exploration and Adventure organization. You might want to keep them in mind for future reference (http://serviceeducationadventure.org/).

We sailed up from Cornet Bay on the S.V. Cutty Sark, a 52' ketch owned by Capt John Stone. We came back on the M.V. Indigo, a 65' steel hull vessel owned by Capt Scott Ashworth.

They do have other boats available for charter and the organization is top notch! Words and pictures can't come close to describing the experience but now I know why Sucia is so popular :smiled

Roger,
The calendars you use in Stanwood must be different than the ones in Arlington. The one that my life revolves around shows the 23rd and 24th of June to be a Monday and a Tuesday.

Hey Dave, I believe my calendar coincides with yours. if you look at the Year. my request was back in 2007. it is now 2008 and you are quite correct. the 23 and 24 are a Monday and Tuesday.
other than that, how is it going over there in Arlington???????

So, Roger does this mean the event is actually on the 21st and 22nd?
Things are great in Arlington and it is reasurring to me that when I cross over I-5 towards Stanwood that the calendars actually don't change...

(Unfortunately, if the actual event is on the 21st, I'll be unable to assist as the Lake Stevens Fire Dept. and Marysville Fire Dept. are hosting a Sturgeon Fishing Derby to raise funds for one of your Stanwood residents who happens to be an Everett Fire Dept. Paramedic/Firefighter.
There has been considerable public news coverage about Mr. Steve Goforth who is being kept alive with a mechanical heart and is on the waiting list for a heart transplant. There have been numerous "flyers" posted in Snohomish County sports/fishing shops regarding this upcoming event - obviously this event is open to the public and numerous prizes have been donated).

It would be great to see a few C-Dory's there.

Dave, look at the date of the original (1st) post!

Warren

Warren, NOW is see the light :idea someone resurrected a thread from a year ago, so I'm guessing this Boy Scout excursion isn't happening in '08.

At any rate the resurrrection of this thread brought in a great opportunity to advertise for the Sturgeon Derby!

dave when is the derby??

It is on the 21st (Saturday). The following locations most likely have information as I believe they have contributed to the event.
Joe's
Jerrys Surplus
John's Sporting Goods
Bay Side Marine'
3 Rivers Marine

When I get back to work this coming Saturday, I'll try to get more detailed information posted on a "new thread" on this site.
