"Bout Done

There's always something but I think I have this little 16 footer in the bag. I started out last year with a 1982 C-Dory Angler that had been neglected and abused. Over the past year she has been "my little project". After a lot cleaning up, fixing and replacing she's about as done as she is going to get with this owner. I replaced all of the rusty parts on the trailer including new rims and tires. The water entry into the area below the back seats was the worst. It's a floatation chamber with no access so I had to open it up and dig out all of the water saturated foam. It turned out rather well I think. I now have a place to put my battery as well as the gas tank. They sat up on the seat before. Not a good location in such a small boat. My brother completely rewired it and everything works as it should. There is even a battery shut off switch as well as a main fuse. Here she it.....

I'm still patching holes that the previous abusers drilled all over the place. I think I have them all now. Also just drained the oil from the lower units in the two outboards. Ugly stuff! I'd launch her tomorrow but I'm helping a friend launch his sailboat and he's been waiting longer. It's a Stone Horse design.

The Eddy - Duff Stonehorses are interesting boats. Have fun with that.

Finally got her in the water for the first time since I did all the new work. The trailer lights are great, up out of the way and the poles give me a target to aim for when loading. No more submerged lights. It ran like crap though so it was back home. I pulled the fuel pump and carb for a cleaning. A new set of spark plugs and a couple of gallons of ethanol free gas later and we were ready to launch again. This time it ran %100 better but still a little rough. I ran it up to full speed and felt a few burps along the way which was probably the last of the crud passing through it. It runs a lot better but I'm still going to have a local mechanic throw a tune up on it and check out all of the connections. I can't think of anything else to do with it. It's been a fun project and you folks have been a tremendous help. I'd have messed some stuff up for sure without your support.
