All this talk of folks buying newer, bigger, boats has given me the itch to upgrade. We avoided the boat show out of financial fear, but today I weakened. I've been thinking for some time about upgrading to a vessel with a better build quality, a nicer fit and finish, a little more room, yet lighter. I happend to mysteriously find myself at the local dealer today and discovered they had a helluva sale on a few remaing new 2008 models.....I had to do it.
So I loaded up another Hurricane Santte sport kayak in the back of the truck and headed for home. We have a pair of Old Town Loons and enjoyed the snot out of them but they where getting to be kind of a pain to lug around. Bought one of these 35 pound Hurricanes two years ago for $900 and have been real happy with it......when I got the salesman to knock $30 off todays price tag of $599, I couldn't resist.....If you're looking for a good lightweight kayak deal in the portland area beat feet down to Alder Creek Kayak soon, they had three more left in the storeroom & M's sister may end up buying two of them.
It looks like kayaks are spawning in my garrage, don't know what I'm going to do with the Loons. They make good loaners if anybody around here wants to try kayaking drop me a line.
If interested, Alder Creek is now selling an array of Stand Up Paddle gear
