Thought it might be interesting to share ideas on boating-useful websites. We just heard of one that might be useful to others:

http://windmapper.com/?Loc=NW

This gives wind speeds and predictions, as well as weather. Useful to check before leaving harbor or to decide which cove to use for an overnight anchorage.

Most probably know of this site but in case someone doesn't I really like www.ActiveCaptain.com for planning a cruise.

Thanks El and Bill for the wind map.javascript:emoticon(':love') I added it to my favorites.

I am expecting wind today for windsurfing. One look at the site told me where the wind is. I will share it with my windsurfing friends.

Thank you for the windmaper site! We too added it to our favorites. One can never have too much information while cruising.

Thanks especially to El and Bill and Robbi. Both sites now bookmarked. I like this Canadian weather site:http://www.theweathernetwork.com/

Two more bookmarks added to my collection. Thanks!

http://bis.apl.washington.edu/bis_home.php this is a great site tha places tide wind and current not only in one place but on one screen. Both what has happened and what is predicted to happen. I have talked with the developers about adding saving trips that you plan, You can plan but not save, but there are no plans for the future on this site last I heard.

for river fishing planning

http://waterdata.usgs.gov/wa/nwis/current/?type=flow know before you go. River levels and or flow dictate fishing style or fishableity ( it that a word?) more than weather or anything else.

Fishing, get those reports first.
