Anyone have any experience to share about the engine fault alarm plus the equivalent of an automotive "check engine" indication for Honda BF 135/150 series engines?
All was fine last evening but this morning (Sunday of course) the starboard engine is refusing to start with the above alarms. Port engine is fine so it's not water in fuel and anyway we have run for about 5 hours since the last fill.
According to what I can find on the "net" there are 13 sensors which can set this condition but the most likely is the O2 sensors getting contaminated by water and we did get very large amounts of various colors of sea water over the boat crossing the Straits of Georgia yesterday. Seems we picked the wrong course and got a serious dose of wind vs BIG tide. A fellow traveller was about 5 miles North of us an had an easy trip. Nice to know we can handle short sharp 6 footers for 3 hours but I feel like I have been wrestling with an Octopus today.
So we are stuck in Pender Harbour (with an "o") waiting to get in contact with the local Honda repairman. By all accounts he might be a little difficult to get to even come see us so we might just have to go on one engine to Powell River where they have two dealers and some competition !!
Happy Fathers day
