Behold, the power of a C-Dory

We live in a wee town in S.W. WA where the population isn't much different than the elevation. When the kid was in Jr High, he went out for football. He was gangly youth about 140# and saw very little playing time. We always told him to just give it your best and have fun. Several years ago we bought a C-Dory and have been doing a bunch of fishing and, needless to say, have been eating scads of fresh fish.

Strictly because of C-Dory ownership, fish consumption and anchor pulling, Jr Buckwheat has put on enough muscle and ate enough brain food to be named to the All Region football team. This team contains players from the big schools throughout SW WA so for a kid from a school with a cow pasture for a playing field, it speaks volumes about the power of C-Dorying.

of course all the time he spent in the weight room had nothing to do with any of his success

Ken, that is just so cool. Tell that dude Brock's really happy for him. And tell him to join us once in a while! He knows I don't have a winch.

thanks guys, I'll pass the word on. Brock, I don't know what not having a wench has to do with Jr unless you think you can just grab some of the overflow....Oh....winch, for anchor pulling, I get it now :)

C-Dory's are wonderful boats that can do amazing things for a persons spirit and outlook on life. However..... I've met said son and I do believe that there are powerful genetics at work here. Congratulations Professor, Mom and jr. Buckwheat.

I'll add my congratulations, as well. The first time I saw the kid, Elliot (the albino wharf rat) could just about hold his own against him. Very neat to hear. I think it says something about the rest of the family, too.

Now, if you buy one of them new TomCats before Tyler heads to college, he'll make it all the way to the Super Bowl, for sure!

Naw, if it was just genitics he'd be a drunked sweed fishing bum, and the rest of the family are C-Tards....Probably no college ball for him, no big pro contract and no new TC for me...drat..I'll just have to come down and catch a ride on yours Mike

 I'd say the odds were purdy close to being a sure thing. I could learn ya all I know in a few minutes. All you have to do is point that ford 20 miles due west one of these evenings after work The only classroom tools you'll need are a pair of hip boots. You still have my cell #?

Thanks Dave. He'll probably be embarrassed when he sees this thread.......Mike's comment causes me to shudder to think what could have been if we had purchased a TC years ago...the kid would probably have a full ride scholarship to a prestigious football college like UW.

Larry, I got your number, check your mail

Ken, it's great that he's not only a good athlete, but also a good guy. You can probably blame that on his mom.

I saw the growth of an athlete first hand this summer when I fished with you. When we were fishing he was all business and on the fish like a frog on a junebug. When not fishing he was eating or sleeping. Now that's how to grow a boy into a man.
Lyle

Thanks Lyle, "frog on a Junebug", that's a pretty good description..that kid goes nuts around fish....I think the sleeping part he gets from me :)
