I've just come back from a 2 week trip to the Kitamat/Douglas Channel area. The outcome of which was no Chinook salmon. It seemed that no one was having much luck. We talked to other boaters, guides and river fishermen and the story was the same, few fish. it is hard to believe this once strong fishery could go into decline so fast.
You hear all kinds of reasons for it but I think it's a combination of them. But what are we going to do about it? Our DFO has it's head up it's butt and has closed hatcheries up and down the coast making it very hard to help the stocks recover.
I guess we have some tough choices to make.
