BC Chinook?

I've just come back from a 2 week trip to the Kitamat/Douglas Channel area. The outcome of which was no Chinook salmon. It seemed that no one was having much luck. We talked to other boaters, guides and river fishermen and the story was the same, few fish. it is hard to believe this once strong fishery could go into decline so fast.
You hear all kinds of reasons for it but I think it's a combination of them. But what are we going to do about it? Our DFO has it's head up it's butt and has closed hatcheries up and down the coast making it very hard to help the stocks recover.
I guess we have some tough choices to make.

Glen, where did you do your fishing? I'm heading out there for my first trip to the area and any hints would be great help. The plan is to refuel at Hartley Bay and go from there.
thanks

We fished the Douglas Channel out as far as the mouth of the Sue Channel mostly due to weather conditions. We also fished around the Fish Trap and Devastation Channel. I hear the chinook have finally shown up, about 6 weeks late. You could call Doorselfin Adventures for info. Sorry I don't have their number.

Good luck,
Glen

PS the crabbing and prawnig was good. Some halibut too.
