Do the inside! The outside is too far, too rough and too cold. Trailer to anywhere on either side of the Sea of Cortez, and cruise almost anywhere in the comfort of the Inside. Join Vagabundos Del Mar...that's what they do. They have all the latest on permits, licenses and insurance.
I have done the Pacific side many times in larger boats. The "Bash" northbound is not fun. Going south under sail is very pleasant. Motoring or sailing in the "Sea" is tits.
Join the Hidden Port Yacht Club in Puerto Escondido, south of Loreto. You may never leave. The "season" is Ocober 1 through June1. Too hot and sticky during hurricane season.
My 25 cruiser is set up for Baja...full boat awnings, a watermaker, 2 trailer spares on spindles, etc. AND...ham radio. Get a license.
