You are absolutely correct on cleating off the a stearn cleat. A very poor idea if the line goes from the cleat over the side and down to the anchor.
If you read my procedure your will see that the line that is tied to the stearn cleat goes forward around the cabin, through the trunk cabin cleat and over THE BOW ROLLER.
Any pull or strain on the anchor line is only transferred through the bow roller.
Thanks for bringing up that point. Pulling anything over the stearn is a death wish by drowning.
