Another washdown pump ?

Sorry for all the questions. Where is the normal/best place to install my washdown pump. I was thinking above the port tank but am concerned about electrical and gas close to each other. It is going on a 19' Angler.
 
I put mine on the transom. The previous owner already had a thru hull fitting there about 4" higher & about 6 or 7 " to the left of the drain plug. He had his pump for a live bait tank there. It's up off the deck & out of the way there & I ran the sprayer hose up into the port lazerette. Works good! Vern

I've kept an eye on washdown pump locations as I've looked through the albums (because I wanted to move mine), and I've seen quite a variety of spots - some of which probably do not apply to the 19 Angler. Some that come to mind are the after "wall" of the under-galley cabinet (where mine was), various areas in/around/under the splashwell, and in the water-tank base (which, at least on the 22, is under the after dinette seat).

I don't think it would be a problem putting it near the fuel tanks, because there should be no vapor source there (unless you have a leak -- which I would worry about and fix; but not just because of a washdown pump). I'm thinking that the only place in relation to the tanks that should have fuel vapor is on the outside of the vents (outside the hull)... right? I was thinking about locating my washdown pump above my tanks (and my trim tab HPU is already there), so I'm interested to see what others think.

One thing I thought looked nice was on a couple of boats (I think "Moose" is one of them) where a slit section of ~5" PVC pipe was used to hold the hose coil).
 
Mine (in the Tomcat) is inside of cabinet on the bulkhead wall. I'd recommend that you keep it outside. Hoses and connections can come loose and if it's inside a cabinet, you can wind up pumping salt water in there. I'd put it in the splashwell if you can. If it leaks there, it's no issue at all. Also, set it up so that it's easy to drain and easy to replace. I don't know if I've just had bad luck but it seems like I only get a couple of years out of these kinds of pumps.
 
we just installed ours last weekend. I mounted it to the underside of the starboard battery lazarette. it sits just above the starboard fuel tank. I was going to do one of those hose mounts on the splash well but the way it lined up I ran the hose through the splash well boot and there is a hook on our transom bar table to keep it. I originally was going to use the port lazarette but we converted that into a fish box/fish bleed station and didn't want the pump in the same spot. I was nervous about a through hull in the transom especially where the core is at.also fear of it failing and being below water line, so we did like we have on the last three boats and put it through just below rub rail and vin# on the starboard side. plumbed with various fittings from home depo and then ran a reinforced pick up line to below water line above trim tab.also on the end of that we put a hose adapter so i can hook it up the garden hose when at home and wash pump out with fresh water. we just did this but i will take pics and have in album tomorrow some time.
