anchor storage

Hi, ended up picking up a 1988 22ft Cruiser, mint condition! Wondering if anyone had any ideas for storing your anchor up in the bow when not in use; shy of tying everything to the handrail. Thanks for any suggestions!
 
Congratulations on the "new" boat. A couple of questions...

What kind of anchor?
Do you have a windlass or plan to add one?
Do you plan to be using the anchor a lot?
Usual depth of water?

Columbia river style, anchor from10-100 ft, I fish often and will anchor some, I need the ability to cut loose quickly when fighting a fish. Just need a means if storing it while underway
 
Most 22s have an anchor roller that the anchor lives on and a hawse pipe or windlass that routes the rode into a locker at the forward end of the V-berth.

Does your boat not have this setup?
 
Ooh, I saw that one on Craigslist (presuming it was in Oregon) - looks fantastic! Congrats :thup
 
I have my spare anchor, chain, rode, and other stuff, in a plastic bin in the cockpit (see mods album). Reasoning is that I can easily move it from Port to Starboard or back, to counter balance. I put a rubber floor in the cockpit so it does not slide around when under way.

I don't think that the "Columbia river style" anchor is going to lend itself well to the typical anchor roller on the C-Dorys. Searching the site (use the search button at the top and put in "anchor AND river") may help. I remember there has been some discussion of that type of system.

I have just an anchor roller, no hawspipe to the storage area fwd of the v-berth. For now its stowed under the galley seat. A bin may work on the bow, thanks for the idea. I would like something fwd so I don't have to pack it to the bow every time I throw the pick. Got the boat wet today, it runs great; and looks good tied to my dock! You are correct ; I found it in Oregon, not too far from home! Thanks
 
This is our 1st season with a CD22 cruiser, and we love it. It came with a danforth, an anchor roller, hawspide and chain locker, along with 125' of 1/4 inch galvi chain. We have been out at anchor three time. The fist time i said " wow, this is a little more work than I am used to". The second time I said.." DAMN! this is a lot of work"

Today, I decided to buy a windlass. perhaps a bit extravagent, but cheaper than a back doctor, right?

Hauling chain by hand on a 22 is a whole different ball game than pulling line on a 17. Oh! the joys of trading up!

Been there, done that. And yes, a windlass is a whole lot cheaper than back surgery. In fact, a lot of C-Dory's are cheaper than back surgery!

Maybe trade about 100' of the chain for 200'-300' of nylon rode? Cheaper than a windlass...
