We have over 7 years of combined experience in this event, and are looking for 1st prize this year.

Now all we need is Starcraft Tom, and it would be a competition!

I'll be out on Anna Leigh, but with Patrol signs on. There will be two patrol boats out each day in the San Juans for any problems that might come up.

I love those pictures- two of my favorite fish, two of my favorite people, and two of my favorite hats! Oh, and those boats ain't bad either. Best of luck at the derby.

they just went on sale didnt they??

Not sure, but they go fast. I had a chance to get some before they went on sale to the public, at my last PSA meeting, but decided I would rather be a volunteer. You can call Ace Hardware at 360-293-3535 and see. They need to be paid in cash or check.

Too bad that derby's during the height of the springer season on the Big C. I'll be fishing the Columbia and Willamette for the best tasting salmon in the world. 8)

David and Warren,

Thanks for your efforts to be out there, guys. Sure appreciate it and will make sure to say hello when we see you!

Of course, any "inside" info of where the Big Fish are, let me know! Just don't tell the other guys! :wink

If I go I will be spending friday somewhere close to were I plan to fish. rules do not state where you have to start at and only that you can not drop a line until 6am. better to not have to make a long run in the morning. I would plan to be at my first stop at 5 am getting a feel for the tide. Lines wet at 6:01am. If I catch a fish i will run back and head out again. Better to be in the islands the night before. each person has a chance to weight 4 fish, two each day.

Starcraft -

I checked the WDFW regs, and its no use trying to intercept a Fraser River fish near Patos Isl this year, as wilds are not allowed. Two years ago it was the case, and the derby winner came out of there.

Your strategy is however valid in staying out like that. You will be ahead of the crowd, and minutes can be all the difference. Dont forget your anniversary in all the derby planning. Hope you can make it.

David Mckibben and I were on Coast Guard Auxiliary patrol there today and saw 7 other C-Dorys including Anna Leigh and C-Dancer. The biggest fish (second-hand knowledge) was about 19 lbs.

Just spent the day working on the boat. I hope you had more fun then me. What was the big fish today? did you catch anything? hows the weather?

Caught a derelict crab float in Thatcher. We managed to rescue all our end tackle.

The results are now posted on the website

Had a great day on the water with Dwight on Saturday. The weather was surprisingly nice. The fishing was awful. I heard 1100 tickets sold (= 1100 fisherpeople) and 100 or so caught. Not a good average. We worked the areas hard to no avail. Oh well, that's fishing. It might be time for me to start hitting the ocean, or Canada so I can do some catching. :thup

I fished the Columbia on Saturday and Sunday near Scappoose, OR, for spring Chinook. Got one on Saturday, saw another 4 or 5 caught out of about 50 boats. Got blanked on Sunday, and only saw 1 caught that day out of about 30 boats. It's sloooooow everywhere, it seems.
