all electric 16 footer

Marty, Cool, I like it......It has twins :thup :thup

Does that 31K seem realistic. I haven't paid attention to the 16 pricing. Maybe the electrics have helped the price. Looks nice and clean. Wonder if the battery weight would be close to the same as a gas OB set up.

The $31k is roughly about twice the typical C-16 price, but there's a large range based on age, equipment, condition, etc.

The Torquedo components are quite expensive, and I imagine easily come up to close to $16k when all the components are added up, and the installation miscellaneous costs (wiring, busses, fuses, boxes, fasteners, etc., etc., are included.

(Greg (Aurelia) would be a familiar source able to evaluate this.)

So what's the RANGE of this set up (says suitable for local waters)? 5? 10? 15 Miles? And how about the speed limitations? (Probably should be using a long, narrow, displacement hull.)

Note that the total hours on the present set up is 2 (TWO)! Must not have been very satisfied with the performance???

The Torquedo motors and Lithium Ion batteries are pretty much state of the art. The range and speed limitations of this set up typify the engineering problems faced by designing electric alternatives to combustion motors. Progress is being made, but it's a difficult challenge.

Very interesting find, though!

I've thought about taking an older swing keel sailboat and converting it over to an all electric fishing/trolling boat for inland lake use, but never did more than play with it on the drawing board. (Limited application concept.)

Too bad the torquedos are not a matched set, that would bug the heck out of me. From what I can tell there doesn't seem to be any helm control other than steering, another annoyance. I would say it's an expensive experiment that didn't pan out and the owner is trying to recoup the investment.

Hmmm...... I'm not exactly blown away by the Torqueedo setup or the look of the batteries everywhere. I will give the owner an "A" for effort though. Definitely "out of the box" thinking.

Just something to consider, fuel in AK is very $$$. While I'm not about to drop $30k on this boat, there is a growing class of people heading in this direction up North. Kayak fishing is gaining popularity, and this is likely to be a growing trend.

This isn't kayak fishing, but the same appeal (no gas fishing trips) exists, and while I don't really want this boat, I think that it will eventually sell for above the cost of the average 16. It won't sell for $30k, but someone will want this. Gas is up over $5 a gallon at some docks!

There would be a remote throttle control for the larger motor at the helm. If they put a matched set of 4.o units on the boat, it still would not plane so it would be a waste and that is the largest unit that could work on the 16. The second torqeedo is just a kicker and a decent one even for our 19 which happens to have the same kicker.

In the right location - e.g. a fairly protected area with good fishing - this might be the perfect boat for someone who wants to fish without the fuel costs and/or the associated effort of getting fuel to the boat. In some places, just getting to a fuel pump can be a major effort or expenditure of time.
