I would like to know if any one has added NEMA 2000 to their boat. I have a 2007 25 Cruiser. Older Lorawnce GPS.I would like to know my fuel burn so I can do long range cruising.

The 2007 Lawrence electronics are MNEA 2000 capable. All you need to do is to add the fuel flow sensor, and the MNEA backbone. The sensor is EP 60 R, must be installed so the flow is "up" with the arrows, and a small inline pre filter. These are paddle wheel transducers.

The Lowrance "Starter Kit" is the back bone. If for some reason your MFD does not show fuel flow (which it should--I had Lowrance on the 2006 Tom Cat), you can buy one of the separate gauges in 2" or 4", but I am not sure if they are still current stock, so you can buy used or off E bay. I was able to find a 4" in "Suzuki" brand--which is a relabeled Lowrance.
What engine to you have? Some of the 2007 engines had the ability to read fuel flow off the engine computer.

I added a LMF-200, FF sensor, NMEA 2000 GPS, and associated NMEA backbone to my boat. Not a problem to do it. If you get the stuff at sale prices you can do it for about US$500. The internet is your friend, so is eBay.
Note that if you want range information (i.e. miles to empty) you need a NMEA 2000 GPS source. I got a NMEA 2000 GPS receiver for about $80 from eBay.
My boat now has a 0183 and a 2000 NMEA network.

I initially installed an NMEA 2000 system when I installed a Ray Marine autopilot. I have a Garmin chartplotter. But since I had more Ray Marine electronics with the AP to connect, I went with their system, SeatalkNG. Which is unique to only Ray Marine. PITA! I wasn't happy with the AP, so pulled it and put in a Garmin Autopilot. Then changed out the Seatalk backbone and connectors, and went with all Garmin. Which BTW is pretty standard between all the other manufacturers, except RayMarine! I ordered most of my NMEA2000 cabling and connectors from eBay, Amazon and West Marine. Colby

My 2008 Etec has this capability and it was just a matter of of buying the proper cable, $60, and plugging it into the NMEA backbone. Now fuel flow, and a host of other engine vitals, display on my Garmin MFD.
