Great to find a site with such awesome folks. I've been perusing this site about one year - reviewing stories, pictures, contributions by members, etc. Having owned 21'-23' center console walkarounds (locally built), I saw a C-Dory cruising down the interstate one day about four years ago between Chicago and North Carolina (somewhere - hell, I don't recall exactly where). I had been thinking of a Grady or a locally built Parker - both nice vessels. Then I saw the C-Dory. So, I cruised to the C-Dory site (not the best laid out site IMO), and I looked at the Ocra's, Ranger's, Venture's and the 25' Cruisers. I made some inquiries but for the most part and the largest part, I reviewed all of the contributions on this site over the past year and finally made my decision on the 25' Cruiser.
As luck would have it, Old Lyme Marina, Old Lyme, Connecticut had advertised a 2007 25' Cruiser on C-Brats last month and I bought the sloop site unseen (well, Christine tossed me up some pictures).
First of all I have to express the highest regards for Old Lyme Marina. I've dealt with Marina's over the years - some not so good, some marginal and some plain and simply suck - argh! Old Lyme Marina was outstanding in all aspects. The communication, the detail to workmanship, the pride the family takes in their marina and their employess was remarkable. Kudos to Todd, Christine, Mark, Jim and anyone I've left out - you made the purchase of my boat a truly rewarding and memorable event. Thank you. I also had the opportunity to see Mystic Seaport (Julia Roberts doesn't work at Mystic Pizza any longer I guess). What a nice seaport community.
So, I finally put the name on my boat today - ANTIBODY. I'm planning to make the NC Gathering and meet some nice C-Brats.
West Marine is raking in the bucks during my 30-day new boat owner period and I'm taking every advantage of the 10% discount.
Looking forward to reading the muses on this site during the forthcoming years. Y'all are a bunch of pretty good folks!
