in the dark of night DaNag and Mike have backed the Tyboo up to the Brew misters brewery loaded up, come day light their now well off shore in the deep blue sea, they still got 3/4 of their cargo on board the sea's are calm almost glassy but their is a wave, no tide, slight sea current, steaming at 12 knots ... but using their one good eye they notice on the 3rd or 4th wave the wave is rolling over the bow ... which type of wave would be less damaging for these two pirates, protection of cargo etc. a long spaced wave or a short spaced wave the posse is in pursuit slowing down is not a option ... "who cares" is not a answer lol ... wc[/code]
 
First off, one big correction to your scenario. You say we are well out to sea and still have 3/4 of the cargo. But the head in my boat has a holding tank, and both Bill and I are too old to be trying to pee over the side so the missing 1/4 of the cargo is still aboard. Unless, that is, you drank it and that is how you came up with this tale.

Me, I like long spaced waves. The type of wave you are insinuating sounds more like a rolling swell, and those will merely bob the boat up and down as they roll under. But if one in each series is going onto the bow then I guess I am just glad we are heading into them instead of running from them. If it is a breaking wave, then I guess I am glad we still have some beer left because we may not be getting the chance to have any more.

I think he's referring to the wench we threw overboard...

Give yourself a week or two or more, and you just might be regretting the wistful wench decision!

Ok, I know she was probably ugly, but beauty is in the eye of the needy soul!

Funny thinking: Next time you see some wench that's not particularly attractive (or worse), think about "How much would I have to drink before she starts to look pretty good?"

Lots of things in life are relative........

well i use to toot around on a small tug for a few years and the short choppy waves at the mouth of the river or harbors that at times empty the cupboards out are the good ones (yeah right)

now out in the deep blue sea (never been their) or out of the text book the longer spaced waves are the bad ones ... the gents that served in the navy for a few years I'm sure would have lived the experience .... keeping it short the velocity of a wave is measured in meters per second .. so if your on a destroyer and dip the bow the wave could be coming at you over a hundred kilometers .. duck ...

I'm under the stair well throwing out junk the one box had a few books and notes from 40 years back when i went through the marine college ..
magnetic compass: learned about variation and deviation etc .. but when you left the dock they would drop a few hundred boom chains on the deck to drop off at the camp .. "variation use to wonder" .. the south end of the needle points north ..

their was a couple other things that came to mind that i find a little humor in but the box is in the recycle bin now ..
