About got it together, but a couple questions for the Pro's

Well, I have got the boat ordered, down payment and all, should come out of the mold mid September. I want to get pictures of my grand kids with it in different stages of the build process. Scott Mathrews has been great to work with long distance, since we have not met each other, I am very pleased with his support.
Now I am in the process of getting all the stuff. For electronics, I have decided on the Raymarine integrated system, with the C-80 display. I will have radar, GPS, depth finder and compass. BoatsUS has a good price for 1st time boat owners.
I want to know about auto pilots, does anyone out there have the Raymarine system? I do not have hydralics! What system do you recomend?
I also want to install an inverter, for a toaster oven and coffee pot. Should I just get a 2000 watt inverter?
I will have he boat in Rainier WA. Where do you recommend ae get name decals?
Who has the best pictures of where to mount the down riggers?
Is there a C-Brats Olympia group?

Good for you!! Congrats!

About the only question I can answer for sure is the one about the Olympia C-Brats. Well sir, there's only one C-Brats, you see. The world don't have enough water for two. However, some of us Oregon types who enjoy the company of the PS types did a little power whining a couple years back and conned them into having at least one, sometimes two, CB gatherings in the South Sound so the travel distance would be a bit more equitable. Of course, they set them up for the coldest, wettest times of the year, but they are still great. Usually we do an early one (I think Jarrels Cove was the spot this year), and a late one at Swantown Marina in Olympia. Keep watching for news.

Grandkids with the boat are about my favorite kind of pictures. I am going to set you up with a photo album using your CB handle (erandy) as a title. As soon as you figure out what you will name this fine new vessel of yours, we can change the album title. You'll see a link to your album in the profile info to the left of all your message posts.

Congratulations on the new CD. Good choice. I'm in Fairbanks, AK but I went to high school in Rainier and lived in Vail. Very familiar with the area.

I have both both the C80 system and the Raymarine auto pilot and remote on my 2004 CD. Here again both would be a good choice. The auto pilot w/ remote control is my favorite option! Obviously this would be up close to the top of the option list, as personally, I wouldn't be without it.

Seems like most of the downriggers are mounted just forward of the fuel fill. I haven't figured out how to post pics on the new site (now getting older, but so am I) but I would think that someone can accommodate and there are probably some pics in the detail section if you can find them. If you are going to use Scotty's you might look at both the gimbal mount option as well as the basic mounting block with the 4 knob head screws. The gimbal is a lot more convenient in mounting and stowing away. If I had your address I would be glad to send a couple pics by mail. I have the gimbal setup on mine, but it is strictly a personal preference thing. Food for thought.

Randy, while you're dropping the big bucks, you might seriously consider hydraulic steering. It's much easier to do the autopilot stuff by pumping oil than it is turning a wheen mechanically. Either the BayStar or the SeaStar is a great choice. I've got the latter with the Raymarine 6000 AP and it works great!

So I understand about only 1 C-Brat, with many opportunities, I hope to be a good sharing member too. I followed the advise on the Hydraulics steering and ordered it.
2nd Byte -- We bought a home on the Vail Cut-Off Rd, right on the river. I was stationed at Ft Lewis and use to hunt the Vail area, so I am really excited about getting back to the NW. My wife and I want to do the cruise to AK in the C Dory, perhaps in the Summer of 06. I should be really retired by then!
