Sorry for posting so many questions but after a week aboard and now with unlimited access to WIFI, can you blame me? :)

I've searched the forums and found great ideas on fender hanging, sizes, line handling setups - all manner of things designed to prevent too many bumps in the night (or day).

One thing I have not seen is a discussion of the merits of fenders with eyes on the ends vs. those that you run the fender line through the middle.

In the past, I've gone with the line through the middle style but haven't given it much thought. Now that I am about to buy a new set, I thought I'd check the accumulated wisdom here.

Thanks

Tom

I like the line thru the middle. the ones with holes in the end mostly have a metal insert and they tend to pull out sooner or later.

I'll just post after Tom for the 3rd time in ten minutes. Hi Tom!

We have the eye on the end type and I have noticed at least one disadvantage. When hanging a set from the dock or the boat, the length of the eye makes the body hang that much lower by default and sometimes we are carefully re-tying them just to get the meat of the fender between the boat and the dock instead of the top shoulder of the fender. I think the eyeless type could ride a bit higher and at our floating dock, they would put more of the fender between Aurelia and the dock which is a good thing. Now, if we could just wear out some fenders so I could justify buying more. We have too many as it is with a spare set in the dock box.
