A Different "Loop" Route

It does look intriguing. Certainly not a route you would want to do facing a hard time limit. Those lakes can turn very unforgiving in a very short time. I was raised in the west so my knowledge of the lakes is limited to what I've read, but my wife was raised nearby Lake Michigan and has boated on it. She has voiced reservations about doing any meaningful cruising on the lakes. With that said, we haven't dismissed the idea since we would really love to experience Georgian Bay and the Trent-Severn. This loop covers some interesting areas.

I've done quite a bit of boating on the Green Bay waters of Lake Michigan. And that's very true, you are limited by winds and weather. I've also done a bit on Lake Superior, mostly around the Apostles. Much more protected and with the various channels, you can usually get somewhere. It doesn't really take much wind to kick up 3' and higher chop on the Great Lakes, and that gets pretty uncomfortable in our boats. While 3' may not sound like much to the left and right coasters, our problem is the distance between waves being rather short. Colby
