There's a 27 listed on boats.com in Surrey, BC. It has a ~150 hp OMC + 4 stroke Yamaha kicker. They're asking about $17.5K. Seems like a pretty good deal.

Now everybody knows about the boat Furry is looking at. I did not want to post a link to it, to give him a chance. I guess three days is plenty of time for him to make the deal and it is only fair that others on this site have a chance. If he hasn't already made a deal on it, it will be gone in a day or two.

I agree Dave. But it is good to see the pictures. This is a sister boat to Haileighs Comet. It looks like it has the extra long cabin with the stand up head. And they even have the plugs for the self draining cockpit sitting in the sink! I might have to take a drive and go look. I would like to see more pictures of it.

Looks like it is in pretty nice shape!

Quite honestly, I didn't notice Furry's posts until you mentioned it...I didn't realize somebody was looking at this boat.

But, as we've mentioned a gazillion times around here...if you discover a great deal on any C-Dory, jump on it or lose. And barring any significant problems, this boat appears to be one of the better deals I've seen in a long time...it ain't gonna last.

Sorry Furry...better hurry.

It's OK I never get worried if some one beats me to the deal as there is always another but you just have to wait a bit. If you guys want it go for it as I am having things from life just jumping in my way to go a see this boat. If it is meant to be mine it will and if it's not it won't be mine. How's that for attitude???

Bill – my post was not meant to be critical of you. I think you did the right thing by posting the link to the boat. Furry had at least one day before he posted questions on this site, then another three days to look and make the deal. I had planned on posting a link to it this evening. I am glad that the members here have a chance get it. The thing that surprises me, is that it is still available. If I had a few extra dollars laying around, I would get it, really clean and fix it up then re-sell it this coming spring.

I did notice in the water picture it seemed to be sitting low in the water. I suppose it could be that it is loaded heavy.

Mike-

I don't know, but call Les Lampman at E.Q. Marine. He planned, arranged, and completed the Haliegh's Comet conversion.

For a do-it yourself approach, call Armstrong Brackets and find out what a suitable bracket would run.

That's what I suggested to "furry".

ON BuiltBuilderCentral they sell a few Armstrong style brackets for between $1000 and $2600 for people that build their plans. So, add $14K - $16K for a 200 Hp OB(or twin 90's), and at least $1500 in labor and you would be easily over $18k before you were done.

I would think a custom made bracket would run at least $2000, and perhaps over $3500 depending on complexity and type of materials.

Add $15,000+ or so for a big motor, controls, and miscellaneous, and maybe more for a kicker, and the resulting overall cost becomes something to think twice about.

Still, you'd have a custom C-Dory 27 to show for it. For less than a new 22.

Then you could really customize the interior, accessories, electronics, etc.

Joe.

I believe some one with a little ability to do some fabricating and search for the best deal on re-powering could probably do it for 16k and maybe even keep the price around 15k.

Not sure what you guys are all smokin but am I wrong to say that this boat has a 150 hp OUTBOARD on it now???? So a bracket is not required
Jimbo

jimbo, the 150 on there now is part of the Sea drive system. If you look at the stern of the boat you will see that the whole motor lifts up and down on the sea drive bracket. You can not, easly, mount another engine on that drive unit. its all one peice. If you go to Haliegh's Comet photo album you will see the process of removing the sea drive unit and installing a Armstrong off shore bracket. the bracket also acts as a swim step and ice box storage.
