Dave S. That may be where the IO boat came from that you saw at the factory. Jack

That could very well be and is most likely as the IO was probably a "one of a kind". I believe C-Dory built a select few vessels that were "special order" with different modifications. The smaller (read not production line factory setting), had those advantages in being able to custom modify vessels to its' prospective owner's desires. (This last sentence probably has Byrdman's "motor running".... )

In talking to Jeff Lindhout in Bellingham about the molded interior vs. cabinetry debate, he emphasized that Sea Sport had a long tradition of semi-customization of their boats. (I hope Jeff will jump in if I am misquoting what I understood him to say.) So, we may be returning to the glory days of C-Dory factory customization!

Not sure why more of our CD owners do not chop into the back ends and pick up more room....but, it is hard to take out that saws all/zippo and cut a nice boat up.... but...the end results... SWEET...and feet.

Perhaps 'cause more of your CD owners are normal people. I can't count myself in that crowd... 26-Classic in the works.

HOLY NIP-N-TUCK BOATMAN......

And... you are only just over 200 miles away.

This is worth a road trip.

So... I guess you are going to "form" the angle of the sides to be kinda sorta a straight line from aft cabin bulkhead wall area to the stern? Maybe?

Going to install saddle tanks too?

I only have about 3000 more questions...

Guess ya gonna rename it....Extends... or something?

AWESOME...

Years ago I was at the C-Dory plant in Kent and viewed an older model C-Dory. My recall about the vessel is a bit "hazy", so I don't remember its' size, but I do remember that it had been built with an inboard engine.

I believe the mystery has been solved. Gary Johnson, just mentioned his '83 27' C-Dory with an inboard engine on the thread entitled "My Transom Repair Project".

Now if one of you "techies" could please post a picture of his vessel on this thread, others would be able to see it here, where we've been discussing it.

Dave,

My '83 was actually built in 03/82 and is hull #003. I've been told that there were 24 of the 27' boats made and they were all custom.

Here is a picture of mine.

Here is a picture of one I found on the internet a while back (I think it was in AK)

Sea Cowboy was another 27 that showed up on here a while back.

and finally there is Haliegh's Comet

Here is another interesting one. This was for sale on Craigslist a while back. It was 20' and has an inboard jet for power...

Thanks Gary, for posting the picture of your boat on this thread. What I initially referring to was the inboard engine on your vessel. Haighleigh's Comet originally had a Sea Drive (which I saw, before it was changed) and I don't recall whether Sea Cowboy had an inboard. (I'm thinking that perhaps it was your vessel that I saw at the old factory years ago before you purchased it). Do you know how many 27' had an inboard engine?

I never found out what the configurations were of the 24 boats. I know that Aiviq had a 4 cyl I/O (he upgraded to a 4.3l Mercruiser I/O), Mine had a V6 and the picture of the one below mine has an I/O. Sea Cowboy has an outboard or Seadrive if I recall correctly.

The only true inboard I know of is the 20' Offshore Angler with the Inboard Jet shown at the bottom of my post above.

To me, one of the most interesting hulls C-Dory came out with is the 30' Cat. ChilKat now has the molds and make it. I would love to have the money to own one of these.

I would be very surprised if you saw my boat in the factory. Once it was made it went to Alaska and was purchased by the Original Owner after it sat at a dealer for a year. He added the extended top and when he moved to Texas took it with him. I bought it from him while it was in Texas.

If I had it to do over, I likely would have passed on my boat and instead purchased a 22' Angler. That would have suited my uses very well and been a whole lot less work!
