2016 repower 115 merc

If you think the motor performs well on your 23' venture, you should see it on a 22' cruiser. I believe the 90hp CT has the same torque in the lower rpms as the 115hp. I tried a new Hustler 4 blade 15-1/4 x 15 pitch and filled the boat, added 4 adults and had no problem popping on plane almost instantly. With the 4 blade I get a power steering affect with no loss of speed or rpms on a hard turn and plane easily at 10 mph and still hit 30mph at 5500 rpm. I have nothing to compare gas milage with that kind of load but it was respectable 4.1 mpg at 20 mph on the smart meter. Jim.

I went down to boat today and forgot my keys .I had to put tools away and bundle up the wiring . I can't wait to run it again the next 8 hours will be torture Ha Ha . Thank Goodness these boats can plane off at 10-12 mph so no worries . Although the Sweet spot on the v 23 Venture is about 21-23 mph 4-5 mpg it gets the best economy there. Unless your at hull speed 5-6 mph then its 6-8 mpg This was with a Yamaha F115 with a 13/15 pitch I'm hoping for better with the Merc because of lower rpm throughout speed range . So far so Good .

It just keeps getting better .With the right trim at 4000rpm we are doing 20mph getting a little better then 4mpg . we can stay planed off at 3000rpm at about 12-13mph . At 4500rpm we are getting 25mph .About 4200rpm is at 22-23mph This is the sweet spot for the 23 Venture .This engine is Amazing .prop 14by17 SS 3blade.

The Suzuki has a similar gearcase. When we had our 90 hp. we could run a 14in D with a 16 in pitch . this was on our 22 cd cruiser .

I had the 20 hour service done by the selling dealer . So now we shall see how this motor does broken in . The only drawback is
the engine will cavitate more then my yamaha f115 bigger blade .I'm thinking maybe a bob's machine shop foil(hydro foil)to help with cavitation? I hate drilling into new engine for foil? The Yamaha was getting over 4mpg the Merc almost the same at cruise .
The Merc is a lot quieter at cruise and has more thrust around the dock which is expected with bigger gearcase. I've forgotten how to put in pictures ? My boat is on page 18 of c-brat boats last 2 pictures on pg 4 of my album please submit thanks Jim

Here's a re-cap. Since you already put the photo(s) in your album, the rest is easy.

1) Start your post or reply, just like always.

2) I open my album in another tab to make it smoother, but you don't have to.

3) Find the photo you want to include in your album. But don't just use the thumbnail - instead open it up by clicking on it so it's big.

4) Hover your cursor over the now-big photo and (depending on your operating system) right click or control click or etc. and then (on a Mac) choose "copy image location." On a PC I can't quite remember but I think perhaps choose "Properties" and then inside that you will find the image location data (which is what you want). Copy that.

5) Come back to your post and paste the info from step 4 into your post where you want it to appear.

6) Highlight that string of characters.

7) Go up to the area above the white writing box and you'll see a row with B, I, U, etc. Go across until you see "Img" and click on that. That will put the appropriate tags on each end of the string of characters from step 6.

8 ) Optionally, if you see the word "sized" right before the .jpg in the characters in step 6 and you want the image to be even larger, you can eliminate the "sized" part from the character string ("sized" makes the photo the smaller version of the two larger versions).

9) Finish your post.

10) Instead of "Submit" hit "Preview" to check things out. If the photo doesn't show up properly in Preview, it won't do so in the real post either. When there is a problem, I usually find that it has separated the ending image tag from the line of characters with a line break or etc. I backspace to get rid of that and Preview again, and 99% of the time that fixes it.
