2015 tsunami in Taan Fiord Alaska

But there is a big difference between a wave 600' tall and a wave that reaches up the side of something by 600'.

How high up the side of something a wave reaches is based on the volume of water, how fast it is moving, and the slope of whatever it is running up.

Agree with interesting & I’ve read considerable about the Lituya Bay slide & wave reaching 1700 ft on the opposing shore, but something I also try to keep my mind free from, when in these fjord areas, as not much one can do if it happens. When cruising in a area where this & other hazards are a possibility I prefer to concern myself with the things I can do something about & free my mind from what I can’t. Of course especially during the night that isn’t always possible. An exception was the slide in Fords Terror, which I vacated in a hurry when it appeared another slide was eminent.
