Matt, just did a pretty thorough search and don't see a Boston Gathering in May or any other time. You've mentioned a couple of times, if you want it, you gotta organize it! A little far for us but I'm sure you'll get some takers. Start a new topic and create some excitement!

Happy New Year..

Charlie

Hi Charlie,
FFheap should be credited with the idea:

His last post references May 15. Hopefully it can come together, I know we had some takers back along.

Mark your calendars for Chesapeake Bay Annual Gathering on June 5,6 & 7th, 2009. This will be our 5th! We plan on having some different and memorable happenings to commemorate 5 years of C-Dory and Ranger Tug friends. Beautiful Lankford Bay Marina is happy to have us again and we all enjoyed the new pavillion. Anyone interested in helping with the planning can e-mail Terraplane Tom. Even long distance helps and ideas are welcome. We decided not to mess with a good thing date-wise and many people have set aside the first weekend in June already. The launch ramp is close-by and plenty of help to launch your boats is always the case. Dogs, cats and monkeys are welcome too.

Those of us from "The Enchanted Mitten" of Michigan would love a gathering. However, only 3-5 boats might be rather boring. :sad

I don't think so. Some gatherings with just 2 boats can be fun. It's nice the size of the gathering that matters but the size of the fun and the attitudes of those attending. So go ahead, organize Michigan gathering. :beer

Anyone planning to move coast to coast should consider a few days or more at Bridge Bay Marina at Yellowstone Lake. First class accommodations, extremely reasonable in costs, pristine water. Enough C-Brats live fairly close. We would rendezvous with you if you were coming this way. Ice off the water by end of May. John

I'm in Oak Harbor, Wa. Is anyone going to Lake Powell or Friday Harbor this year? My wife and I rented a houseboat on Lake Powell one year and it was great but now we have a C Dory and I'd love to join you. We went to Lopez Is in Sept and had a great time. Anyone in the PNW that wants to go cruising just let me know. Brymo@aol.com.

Click on "Event Signups" right below the C-Brats logo at the top of every page and then you can sign up for Friday Harbor (and Anacortes) in May. All the info is in the discussion thread for each CBGT.

Bryant,

There are a number of CBGTs (C-Brat Get Togethers) planned each season in the PNW. Usually Friday Harbor (used to be Lopez) is the earliest and Sequim the latest but this year marks the second for a south Puget Sound gathering in March and it may become the season opener. They normally begin on Friday and most folks leave by Sunday around noon. Often there is a dinner Friday evening, at a local restaurant if one is available, a potluck on the docks or nearby on Saturday afternoon, and a breakfast at a local restaurant on Sunday morning. Sometimes people put a CBGT together with a follow-on cruise say, Bellingham first and then a group goes up to the Canadian Gulf Islands; or Friday Harbor, with a cruise for a week after and then Anacortes which usually occurs the weekend following Friday Harbor.

There are no "official" rules about CBGTs. Basically anyone who is willing to host one puts the idea out on the site and, if enough people seem interested, asks Tyboo (Mike) or DaNag (Bill) to create a signup sheet which is located at the top of the homepage, then those Brats interested go there and sign up. Hosting a CBGT means the usual event planning stuff, but is not onerous, anybody can do it. There are no official dates or limits on the number of CBGT's, they tend to self-select based on available locations, weather, etc. Sometimes they become popular and are repeated year after year, (Bellingham, Sequim, etc.) Sometimes they run their course, (Lopez, Poulsbo, Langley, etc.)

This year, so far we have:

South Sound, March 6-8, at Indian Cove on Hartstine Island, hosted by Jim (Endurance)

Cathlamet on the Columbia River, April 11-12, hosted by Bshillam (My Heaven)

Friday Harbor, May 8-10, hosted by Colobear (C-Cakes)

Anacortes, May 15-17, hosted by Doryman (Lori Ann)

Bellingham, July 24-26, hosted by Ruth and Joe (R-Matey)

Sequim, late season, hosted by Roger and Janet, (Dreamer)

Any Brat is welcome at any gathering and gatherings are often places where folks lusting after C-Dorys see/ride on their first ones. You do not have to own a C-Dory to attend a CBGT. Kids and guests are welcome.

The biggest CBGT of all is the Seattle Boat Show every Jan/Feb where Brats from all over the country get together in Seattle, go to the show and a factory sponsored party. A good time is had by all.

Lake Powell is popular and sometimes there are trips in both spring and fall. Check on the site for information.E
