2006 Honda 135 conks out intermittently

Our 2006 Honda 135 dies intermittently at low and high RPMS. It can run for hours without a problem and then die. Won't start back up immediately but if you wait a little while starts back up and then could run for hours or a short time.it has 1850 hrs and has been serviced regularly. Computer shows no problems and 2 mechanics haven't been able to fix it. A lot of C brats run 135 and 150 Hondas (on 23 and25s)so I was wondering if anyone has had a similar problem . We're hoping to get a few more long cruises out of the Honda.

May or may not be the problem, but long ago a friend had a boat that would do the same thing (it was an IO). After much searching we found that a pin in one of the wiring harnesses was not fully inserted in the connector. Vibration or changes in temperature could intermittently cause this pin to loose contact and the engine would die. After it died you could eventually get it to start again, but it might take awhile and who knew when the engine would die again. Since the connector was molded it was not possible to change the pin. We ended up putting a small ball of foil in the female side of the connection and it worked fine after that.

It almost sounds like a fuel pickup or a fuel vent issue. Because it starts back up after it sits awhile. I would check your fuel supply lines and make sure they haven't deteriorated from ethanol. Also check for any possible kinks. I would wonder if it happens just on a particular tank. Or it's electronic and temperature related like when it gets hot it conks out. Does the fuel bulb collapse? Maybe when it occurs again you could check for spark by removing a plug wire and using a extra spark plug see if you are getting any spark. If your getting spark I would think that it would be fuel related.
D.D.

I agree. check fuel and vent lines and vent, and primer bulb which needs to point skyward. Does it have an ASV? Maybe it needs cleaning or replacing. Are you using external fuel filter like a Racor with plastic bowl ? Anything in in it? Does it occur when the gas tanks are full or low? Are the battery cables from battery to OB clean and tight , same for all battery connections using hex nuts not wing nuts.
