2004 25' C-Dory Cruiser for sale Honda 135hp

C-Dory'ers,
I just got off the phone with a gentleman, Mark, from Scranton, Pa. (7pm 12/15) He is coming tomorrow to view my C-Dory. He knows I'm writing this and will read it, but I promised him the boat at $48k if no one responds within 12 hours with a bid to buy or view. He's ready to go. "Money talks, BS walks". Well, he's a retiring 6th grade math teacher, let's give him the benefit of the doubt....he needs it!
No BS now. If you wish to bid on my boat, now is the time. Thanks to all. I am enthusiastically by my phone at 518-281-2308. Great boat, great price, even at $50k still a great price.

Sorry folks, been away from the site for a few days...

Normally, I would have killed this post quickly, and followed up with the owner privately. We don't allow owners to post ads here that direct traffic to eBay, or any other auction site.

Given the amount of followups here, I can't blast the ad without also killing all of your posts. Therefore, I'm making a one-time exception, since it took me so long to spot this one.

I have moved the ad away from the C-Dory For Sale forum, so as to remove it from the front page listings.

As was the case last time we encountered this issue - if the owner wishes to offer up the boat with a fixed price, with no eBay reference, a post can be made in the For Sale forum.

Thanks,

Bill

Bill,
My sincerest apologies. Being a newbie to the forum I had NO idea those were the rules, although I am sure I agreed to them somewhere along the line. No hard feelings, please everyone accept my apologies and heartfelt wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Best,
Andrew Stasky

Andrew - no apology necessary. The "rule" is not stated anywhere obvious, and it's my fault for not catching this early on - I'm usually on this site so much, that something like this never progresses this far.

Not a big deal...good luck with your auction, and Merry Christmas to you and yours as well.

Anyone interested in the last hull produced of the 18 Angler... $3500 of custom camper shell less than a month old... 03 suzi 50 hp with less than 300 hrs, ....take a peak at Byrdman CD18 Angler updates... and photo albumn... brand new aluminum trailer too... say.....I don't know... $20K

I just checked on E-Bay. The 25' C-Dory is no longer for sale.

Don't know whether it sold or was with drawn.

I would have given him $48k cash immediately. Damn......!!!
Missed it.

Wow! This one sure got the blood pressure up on a few folks, including myself! The 6th grade teacher just might have gotten the deal of the year. Hope s/he joins the C-Brats and lets us know how the sale worked out??!! Like Jack in Alaska, damn, missed it. . . although after just getting our 16 Angler, I would have had to be looking for a new wife to go with the 25 Cruiser!

Al: Good luck with your sale. I have bought 3 C-Dory boats. One was in something like what you have going on here. I sure hope your Christmas shopping beverages have not clouded your judgements. I sure hope your post above for a higher selling price of $48K would not be accepted till after the math teacher shows up.. When I had bought one of my C-Dory boats, I had 12 hours of driving time before I could make it to the boat. There was someone from that state who went there and offered the owner $500-$1000 more than they had agreed to sell it to me for.

Thankfully, that owner did the next right thing...and as agreed, allowed me to at least get there. Surely you would not take more that $48K from anyone prior to the math teacher gets there. I'd hate to see a math teacheer go "postal"... Man...that would add up to a mess.

Keep us posted. And I hope to have another C-Brat online soon!!

Good morning,
This has been interesting. The math teacher, Mark, is coming today at 1:30ish, deposit in hand paying a fair $50k. $2k more as a compromise for all the interest it was stirring. I will sell him the boat if he wants it, 50k. Just this morning I received a call from a gentleman offering me more. I was in the shower and have yet to hear from him, but I will stick to my work and give Mark first shot as promised. Don't worry, no one is going postal here! If Mark falls through I will advise. Thanks so much to everyone, this was fun.
Oh, is the guy in Alaska for real that bid on my boat? That's why I pulled the ad, I thtought he was pulling my leg and messing up the bidding. He bid $49,100 BEFORE asking any questions. Seemed shady. sorry.
Merry Christmas to all.
Andrew

Andrew:
Thanks for your candidness and for keeping us up-to-date on the sale of the 25 Cruiser. Also, for your integrity in selling to Mark even tho there may be other higher bids. :thup Mention to Mark the C-Dory site, C-Brats, and encourage him to sign up. Perhaps he has already? Or, maybe has just been lurking?? Would be interesting to hear how the final sale went? And, good luck with the 53 Hatteras + the house selling!
Merry Christmas, Andrew and Alice!

Andrew: Thought the 1st shot was a clean $48K as in the earlier post... You went up $2K...just for the interest.. Humm.. We do not do it that way down here. But, at least your.... 2nd shot...at $50 is still way fair, all be it a push of $2K.

Don't worry.... there have been times when I lost count on shots too... :cocktail  :cocktail :wink

And as for our site here, I find it interesting to those who do not participate on our site often UNDERPRICE their boat just like it was any other hull. Ya gotta love hulls that really keep their value!!

And, as others have stated....I truly hope the new owners sign on in and meet up with us at some of the future gatherings.

Byrdman, thank you for the kind words. After my Dory is gone and paid for I will then reveal what $ were pledged this morning for my Dory. That's the way we do things up here.

As a former builder of small sailboats I look at things like Hull Identification Numbers on boats since they have a coded meaning per Coast Guard Regs.

HIN of the ebay boat from member list:
CD025042H304

CD0250 = manufacturer and model, 42 = hull number, H304 = August 3, 2004 (date of manufacture or certification and model year)

My HIN:
CD025072E404
(Hull number 72, date of manufacture or certification = May 4, 2004) I bought my boat new in July, 2004 from dealer stock in Florida

Anyone care to explain how hull number 42 was made 3 months after my boat’s hull number 72? (30 CD 25’s later when the factory was building 2-3 per month)

Was this a real deal or a phantom boat with wrong pictures and wrong HIN in an effort to influence used prices? Call me skeptical but I don’t always believe everything I see in print.

Andrew: I would love to know what some of the nubmers were. I know what numbers were running thru my mind on what I "thought was in line" if the boat is in good shape and information on it accurate. It sort of falls in line with some links of past and of late on "accual cash values" of our C-Dory hulls...and insurance. Most of us pull way more for the hulls than the insurance will pay. ... interesting read.

I sold my 1st C-Dory to a gentleman a state away when he saw my post about me going to the NE to purchase the TC24. I could not believe I bought a boat motor and trailer, used it for 2+ years... and was offered just $300 less than I paid for it when I bought it. But, like you, I too found out that I might have been able to pull a little more... and.... have often wished I still had that hard core neat little boat.

Pete: Interesting point...but almost thinking a typo one someones part?? Maybe we can see a photo of the serial number too... Grin. Now, I see Andrew has no problem at all jacking the price when he can....but I just do not get the feeling he would do anything crazy like that... especially when folks know how and where to find him.

This has been fun.

I am getting embarrassed for you folks. Tell me where to post the pics I just shot of the hull #, the Honda # the trailer # and the NYS registration # and registration sticker.

Well Andrew.... we just can't be out playing on our boats today.

Without you having a photo album I am not sure how you can post it. But, if you want to email it to me, I can put it in mine and post it for you.

Some of use are just sicker than others... and I gotta be hooked on something...it just happens to be C-Dorys. :smiled

Now who's embarrassed....? I just shot pics of all the numbers and in downloading them I see an error. A big one. The hull number is CD025042I304, that is correct "I304" and the NYS official title reads "H304". I had never confirmed them as I bought the boat from a friend/dealer cash. This may or may not be an issue. I will call Mark now on his cell as he is enroute right now and advise. Crow doesn't taste too good.

Actually, I would be more interested in knowing how the factory managed to build 72 2004 CD25's before May 4, 2004.

This whole thread turned into a witch hunt AFAIC. Well past our normal "Brattiness" paranoia. All those numbers have given me a headache, so it's time to go enjoy the rain showers on the bay. Maybe a glass of wine this evening while watching the San Diego weatherheads gleefully celebrating the fact that they finally have something to talk about.

Gee, this is interesting. "I" = September 2004 a month later. How was hull # 42 built now 4 months after hull number 72. A further check of "Our C-Dory's" shows other HIN's in sequence from earlier in 2004 with the correct coding. See C-Dragon HIN # CD025070B404. Hull # 70 "B404" = February, 2004.
