i have owned a 1988 c dory for 9 years--it is 21 footer-----it was not built with a fiberglass cabin but does have the cuddy cabin --- it does have full canvas encloser does anybody have any information on this model????thanks --Steve
Well, isn't this just like finding a long lost family member! I also have a "Rag Top C-Cory". It too is a 1988, 21 foot with a 140 Johnson. The fellow I bought it from last year did some extensive research on the history of this boat only to come up that it may have been a factory demo. I now know my Dory has some kin out there, thought I was the only one. Check my album under the name "C-Moss" for some pic.
Happy Boating Brother!
C-Moss
This is a working Crabber, that I see occasionally, in John Wayne Marina.
When the owner first saw SleepyC he came over and was just beaming "I have a C-Dory too" Admittedly it took a second glance to appreciate the lines, but he was proud of it and has some pretty good sea stories with it.
The simulated lapstrake sides on that boat look like a C-Dory, but the hull shape as viewed at the rear transom is different than I've seen on any C-Dory.
Most are only slightly V-ed at the transosm, say 2 degrees, and even the more v-ed ones, like the Offshore 21 and Pro Angler 26, are still basically two flat planes, and v-ed no more than 10 degrees or so.
That doesn't dissqualify it, or prove that it's not a C-Ddory, but just raises some doubt.
As usual, you have pretty sharp eyes. I know it looks different. I There is nothing on the boat that says C-Dory, but I think I remember looking for the stamp tag on the transom, Which looks different too, and it seems the SN stamp had the CD in it. Nest time I see that boat, I'm going to get a closeup of the SN stamp.
