1979 sea sprite boat project

so, i had a blast working on my c-dory, making changes and figuring out different ways of accomplishing a project. last year i sold the c-dory and have been looking for a project boat since then.
so, over this past weekend i found a solid 1979 sea sprite, run-about. approx. 16' loa and 5'6" beam. don't know anything about the company, other than they have been out of business for a long time. i've posted 5 pictures in my album of the boat and work in progress. my goal is to stripe the boat, then sand, paint, install new interior, re-power, honda 50 or 60hp, although the sea sprite is rated for up to 75hp.
current engine is a 1979 johnson 70hp 2 stroke. i haven't started this engine, but the prior owner said it runs good. don't know the weight of engine but would like to find out, if any knows? i'm not sure how to post pictures, if someone wants to attach a photo from my album to this post, it's ok with me.
so, this isn't a c-dory project, but it is a boat project and if anyone has advice for me, it will be greatly welcomed. i will post additional photo's as work occurs.
best regards to all

*1979 sea sprite, loa 16', beam is 5'6", fiberglass hull, rated up to 75hp outboard, current engine is 1979 75hp johnson 2 stroke, runs well, but it's a 1979!
*goal is to gut the boat, clean, sand, repaint, new interior, new honda 50 or 60hp outboard, not sure which hp would be best at this point

P.S.: That OMC/Johnson/Evinrude 70 hp two stroke is the motor the original Classic C-Dory 22 was designed to fit, and weighs about 250 lbs, if my memory isn't off again!

thanks joe,
i appreciate your help and info. one concern i had was engine weight on the transom, so the 250lb figure helps. the honda 50hp weights about 205 and the 60hp somewhere around 235.
if any one has an opinion on which engine would work best for this small boat i would be interested in hearing what they have to say.
also agree with tom, should be a fun project and equally fun to operate.
originally linda and i were looking for a midsize dinghy. wanted something different and unusual. looked at a number of center console, even considered a 16' c-dory, but distance and price was greater than i wanted. so when we stumbled upon this little gem, check out the bones, solid foundation, all parts seemed to be there, low draft, maybe 10 degree, or less, transom deadrise, made the purchase, 7 big ones, $700.00! now enjoying the process of rehab. thinking about paint scheme simular to the c-dory i owned. will have local guys install engine, do paint, and canvas work.
best regards
