I came across some old pictures of a 1958 Fabuglas we had when I was a kid. This was the second fiberglass boat we had. The lines on it were beautiful and it was powered by a 35 HP Evinrude. I would go 25 MPH and in the day that was flying! There's another pic in my album showing the interior.
It was 16' and yeap thats a burn barrell. The picture is taken at a place we had on the ICW north of Wilmington NC "Mallard Bay" for those who know the area. We had two lots 75 x 400 on the water paid $1000 for both of them. In the other picture in my album you can see our 14' FG Herters Skiff bottom up getting barnacles scraped.
For those who enjoy the interesting and often whimsical, by today's standards, fiberglass boats of yesteryear here's a Web site that I get a kick out of: http://www.fiberglassics.com/
My first boat was a 1962 glaspar Lido 13ft 10 in with a 50 merc It was a almost flat bottom it did over 40mph wow it was fast for 1962 .Great boat My brother and I had Great times on Long Island Sound .glaspar finally was bought out by larson and then got bought out by OMC now it belongs to Genmar Group ? I like the Glaspar Seafarer 17 ft boat with outboard power .that would be a good boat for resurrection
