16 Angler, first cruise

I have no idea how many owners this 16 has had, but it went for a "first cruise" with the newest owners on Friday.

This was my first real ride in a 16, and I must say I was very impressed! :thup :thup Fred and Robbin have had two 16's previous to this boat, so it is nothing new to them. I love this boat! It has great handling characteristics, sips fuel, is much more stable than I had thought it would be. The conditions on Friday were ideal. We did get into about 1 foot wind waves and that was no big deal at all. No slapping or pounding. The 40 hp Honda pushes it about 25 knots, with a comfortable cruise speed near 17 knots. The 9.8 kicker (80 pounds) pushes it about 6 to 7 knots. We traveled close to 50 miles got in the high 7's, low 8's mpg.

I plan on taking the boat to the Friday Harbor gathering. I guess we need to come up with a name. For now, TBD.

Congratulations Robbi, Welcome to the 2 C-Dory owners sub group. The 16 is a fun little boat with a big heart. I am running out of things to do to mine, might be time to sell it and buy another one to play with.

..or you could forget about the "things to do to" stage and go right to the "things to do with" level of the 16. It's one fine little boat. All the best Robbi.

Thanks! I did the hole filling, and Fred did all of the electrical and the set up of the fuel tanks and the batteries. There is still more to do, but at least it was ready for the water. It still needs some epoxy finish work, plus a bit of paint on the transom. Fred is going to rewire the trailer. Our "new" seats from Craigs List are great. Plus, we put a spider on the helm seat that slides fore and aft. It really adds some room between the knees and the bulkhead. The seat moves about 3 inches both forward and to the stern from the center point of the pedestal. This makes a huge difference in the comfort level while driving. Thanks EQ Marine, you are too cool! :smiled .

Fred and Robbin will do some shrimping when the season opens, and I will take the boat to Friday Harbor Gathering and do some ling cod fishing.
