12/18/04 - Lake WA/Union Bay/Locks/Day trip

Kate just asked me about the date of the day trip we did last year on Lake Washington into Lake Union. Yes, Kate asked. I remember Pat A suggesting something about going throught the locks and having lunch.
What's up with this idea. Kates inquiring mind wants to know. AND THAT'S A GOOD THING.

Alrighty then! Patty and I are going to do it, even if we have to do it alone! Now there are two of us (maybe)...others? Picking a date is problematic, so weather dependent...play it by ear? Miss Mirth? Bambina? Anita Marie? Sea Shift? Laurna Jo? Anybody else????

The 18th is good for us .... although we may have to bum a boat ride .... Laurna Jo is going in Monday to the Factory for a 200 hour service and the repair to the nice crack in the bow area .... the result of Skipper Jim's boo boo(boo hoo).
the 4th and 11th are tied up ... the 18th is just best for us.

Since Anna Leigh posted on another thread that the 18th would work for him as well thereby making the 18th the unanimous date would Mike or Bill please set up the "event sign-up". Thanks Bill and Mike!

How far is this from Portland?

Lake Washington, Lake Union and the Locks are in Seattle.

Portland to Seattle = approx. 4 hr. drive.

Portland to Seattle = approx. 200 miles.

(We should have Da Nag answer this as he's driven it more in the past year than most have in a lifetime).

I think I can commit to that gig as long as the weather's decent. Last year's wind sucked, and if repeated would keep a little feller land bound.

By the way, Pat and Patti, you folks had some killer weather on the lake last weekend. Especially Sunday. With my binoculars I was scoping the lake from the tower at Volunteer Park. At 2:15 p.m. I saw just a handful of boats but no Daydream. However, a huge cruiser was tied to that rich computer guy's dock and two police boats idled offshore.
:rainbow

Miss Mirth can probably make the 18th. Should be fun.

BTW we were out on Lake Washington this AM (Anne, Joe, and Lizzie) Lizzie is 2 now and a bit of a handful on the boat. It was excellent C-Dory weather -- cold and rainy. The clouds were so low I almost lost visibility to the I-90 bridge!

Have a great day.

Thanks Bill and Mike!

You are welcome.

David (Anna Leigh),
At the moment only you and I have signed up in the "event signup" board for this cruise.
But, the really neat part of this is that you are the group moderator! :thup
Therefore, you can plan a fantastic day of cruising for us! :smiled

In some previous gigs involving Lake Washington, we've met just northwest of the 520 Bridge. From there it's a 7 knot cruise to the locks. If I go I'll put in at Coulon in Renton and buzz up to meet ya'll.

If the Sound's icky that day we can always play in fresh water.

Moderator, Trip planner? Actually I think Pat will be the trip planner. He and Patti wanted to also go through the Ballard locks and have lunch on "the other side". Also somehow when I was inagurated as moderator I started getting emails of people joining. Now I can't find anything on the site that has this info. Jim and Laurie, Dave S, Me, Pat and Patti (who should be returning today from a long week-end in the So.) Mac on Two Lucky Fish, and Catman on that little blue boat.

All. go to the Event Signups page and sign up there.

Meeeting at the West end of the 520 bridge is a great place to meet. WHAT TIME

We'll probably trailer down since we're planning to take TwoLuckyFish out of the water next week (last day of Blackmouth season is tomorrow :cry ). Any launch ramp recommendation?
