11/18 - Snohomish River Delta Cruise

For quite sometime Pat and Patty Anderson have been encouraging me to lead another Snohomish River Delta Cruise so here goes............

This is a one day cruise, that departs the morning of Sunday 11/18/07 from the Everett Launch Ramp (Launch fees are $5). (Figure on a "cast off" time of approx. 0930 HRS). We will explore the peaceful backwaters of the Snohomish River Delta and cruise up to the town of Snohomish. This has proven to be a delightful cruise in the past and unless we are pre-empted with heavy rains that result in a flood condition we should be able to proceed with this as the tides will be in our favor.

At the end of the Delta Cruise a couple of years ago we tied up at the Everett Marina and enjoyed hot drinks and appetizers at one of the waterfront restaurants, so if the group desires, we can include that on the days' agenda.

(My apologies for making this on a Sunday, but it is absolutely the only weekend day that I can come up with in a busy schedule that is often hampered with a necessity called "work"... ....Additionally, I am further inhibited in time as our daughter has "landed" the lead female role of Nellie in the musical South Pacific which will be featured at the Arlington High School Performing Arts Center the nights of 11/9, 11/10, 11/16 and 11/17. Her involvement in this musical is of particular interest/pride in that part of my dad's involvement in WW II was as a chaplain with the Seabees in the South Pacific. (The musical of course features Seabees in the South Pacific). (He later was on the USS Intrepid in the Pacific).

Dave,

Congratulations on your daughters position. Go, enjoy, and Gloat. Spend the time with her when you can. It will be worth it.

It sounds fun, but we will be on a Western Caribbean cruise that weekend, celebrating, among other things, a new knee.

Sure Harvey, you chime in on Marty and advise him to not forget to take a lunch when he walks East toward the sunshine to combat S. A. D., while you head off to the Caribbean...... He'll probably think that you should take him with you!

Hey, just pulling your leg....have fun on the cruise, sorry you're going to miss the Delta Cruise but I'm certain it won't be as warm as yours!

(yep, caught the PK.... :wink )

Jim - I don't know what PKs are, let alone whether what they say about them is true...

Dave - we'll mark November 18 on our calendar! How are we going to fare in the CD25? I would much rather take Crabby Lou but she is in Birch Bay, 130 miles the wrong direction...

DaveS,
Trueth be told, and Deena would cooraborate this, I'd rather be on the Delta or anywhere on the water, in SleepyC.

Pat,
So glad this date works for you!
You should do fine with the CD 25.....one year the 27' Haileaghs Comet joined us on the cruise. Just follow the smaller vessels. "So Far", no one has polished their prop on this cruise and I don't intend on going under any low bridges.

"PKs" are preacher's kids.

Jim,
Quite possibly what you've heard about PKs is true. (ie: They can be "angelic" or  .......now you've got to figure out which we are..(I kinda think you know where I fit in the spectrum.... :disgust ...I know there are more than a couple of PK's amongst the C-Brats.

(Pat and Patty, I'll keep you posted on the tickets).

Hey Dave- Count us in! We've been waiting for this since the last one. As for the Caribbean Cruise, I spent a couple years there on Grand Turk and San Salvador as an independent duty hospital corpman with MCB 7 (Seabees) Great duty, great guys, but I'd rather be on this Snohomish cruise watching you fit the radar tower under the railroad bridge.

Hey Dave,

Thanks for doing the planning for this cruise. Please add us to the list. We had so much fun the first time that we've been looking forward to a repeat of this event.

I was up that way yesterday (by car, not boat) and was JUST thinking to myself how interesting it would be to cruise up the river a ways...just to explore.

Urban/industrial waterfront fascinates me. I love the Swinomish Channel. Heck, I like cruising the Duwamish! So this is a good freshwater cruise for me. Hopefully, I'll be done with my foredeck hatch re-bedding by then!

ruth and joe if you come down for the play susan and I will buy dinner.

Tom, What a nice invitation. Dinner with you & Susan and seeing Jessica in a play sounds wonderful! Never did get to see the movie version. BUT we have wedding invitations the week of Nov 9-10 so it would probably have to be Saturday night the 17th so we can bring R-MATEY down and go on the Snohomish cruise Sunday morning.

Will be in touch and many thanks,
Ruth & Joe (R-MATEY)

PS: Checked out the BIG boat after the storm, everything's okay!

Would love to join you guys but I will be taking my mom down to San Diego on the 17th (sure hope the fires are over by then! )

Thanks to Mike (Tyboo), we now have a sign-up list for this cruise and so far the only one on the list is Dave S. (aka me).

Since a number of folks have indicated an interest in attending the musical "South Pacific" which (I unabashedly) will brag about features our daughter Jessica as Nellie, I supply you with the following information.

Performance dates are 11/9, 11/10, 11/16, and 11/17 at 7:30 PM.
As of this writing there are no pre-sales tickets available, therefore all tickets are available at the door. ($7 for adults, $5 for seniors and students). (Not certain the age for seniors, but I qualified as one at the age of 62 last year... :wink ).

This will be the first play production to be performed at the newly constructed Performing Arts Center at the Arlington High School which seats approx. 650 patrons).

The Arlington High School is located at...
18821 Crown Ridge Blvd.
Arlington, Wa. 98223

Crown Ridge Blvd. is located approx. 1 1/2 miles south of SR 530 off of SR 9. When heading South on SR 9 from SR 530 you will take a left (head East) under the "new) old time covered bridge.

Sat. the 17th is going to be one BUSY day for Jessica and several of her co-cast members as a few of them are in a Jazzmine group that will be performing earlier in the day at the Olympic College Jazz Classic in Bremerton! For some unknown reason, I'm thinking it will be a busy day for J's parents as well....

At any rate at the end of such a busy day on Saturday the 17th, I'll be READY for the next day to be a relaxing day on the Snohomish River with my C-Brat Buddies! :smilep

Dave,

Sounds like a great shindig brewing. And congrats to the aspiring actress, Jessica, in landing the plum lead role. You and the Mrs. have every reason to be proud. :thup You never know, we may inclined to join the cruise since our boat's so close now. We'll see.

We'd love to have you join us! Just think, if you get that fine vessel of yours out on the water enough this winter, you won't even have to "winterize" it again.
