11/16 - 11/18 - Cumberland River Fall Gathering & Cruise

Several Brats wanted to Cruise the Cumberland in the Fall so let's set the dates and GO!

Plan to splash boats on Sunday, 11Nov07, at the Lake Barkely State Park & Marina in Cadiz, KY...

Then cruise up river thru Clarksville (over night), historic downtown Nashville (over night), then just travel as the crowd would like for a couple/few days in the upper Cumberland River waters.

Depending on number of boats/schedules, we can work together to get shuttled back to tow vehicles either left at Cadiz, KY, or place them at pre-pull out locations prior to departing Lake Barkely State Park & Marina in Cadiz, KY.

Yes, we can plan/play on the rivers on both or either weekends, the 9-12th, and/or the 16th thru 18th. Thank you for asking me to clear that up. Several boats have cruised the upper portions of the Cumberland. This will allow for them to return and see some of the lower river waters. It also allows for folks who may travel some distance to have a good 10 days on the waters....and/or from this area....America is your play grounds and you do not have to pull your boat!

Several options on when to be where... but, I have to be at a function with Sherryl in Clarksville at 1:30 on Sat 10 Nov...but no problem...I can get her to pick me up at the Clarksville dock wall...or just drive back home if we are still at the marina.

Hope to have some more newcomers this year as well as some of you who have enjoyed these waters before.

We will check the Cal. to see what is going on, we would really like to come back for another Cruise had a great time on the last one.

Pandy Girl: It would be great to have you back in our local waters.
If yall would like to go to the Grand Ole Opry during you visit let us know which nights. We could arrange for a bus to pick us up from a marina. It gets way easy if it is just a few boats. Those of us that went one year had a blast.

A month out... others interested??

We could make it better on the weekend of Nov 16 for several days or when we run out of money for gas. But we will try to come when ever it works out for all of the C-Brats in that area that you plan for. You do what the locals there want to do and we will try to do what we can to be there.

Hey Jim & Sandy! That weekend and follow week is also best for me too. Come on down and look forward to seeing yall on 16Nov. I think SENSEI will join us around 19th, and Terry (LAST DANCE) made some indications about he and Bonnie coming down. We may head down river a bit and check out some of the TN river...? Wide open..and we will do what the group wants.

This cruise will be set up as to allow for folks to participate in the 16-18 Nov portion, and/or portions of it later in the week too. Yes, my Mother "Momma-Byrd" has been forwarded that another batch of C-Brats may be at our Thanksgiving table again this year. She loves looking out and seeing multiple boats tied to the docks.

Can't do er this year...Sue is going to retire in May, so we are busy working on the house and fixing things....as I type there is a crew up on the roof tearing it off....they built a block wall last week...this week they install a new roof and repair the damaged eves next week they paint...

She has told me that I am to stick close to home this winter....we can travel next winter... we will be moving up to the cabin for the warm times then south (where ?? no idea) during the cold part of the winter....

Cathy & I would not be able to arrive untill late Friday afternoon maybe early evening. Is that a problem? I'll sign up anyway. We can always figure out the details. Cruising da rivers in Tennessee be fun :lol:
 
No problem at all Jeff. Looks as if most who have communicated with me (only about 4 boats) would be launching on Friday anyway. Looking forward to it.

Boating the Cumberland for a pre-gathering cruise from Tuesday 6Nov down river from Mom's 60 miles to the Nashville City Dock. Wednesday 7Nov down river from Nashville 60 miles to Clarksville City Dock. Down river from Clarksville 60 miles to Lake Barkley State Park & Marina in Cadiz, KY....and hit the big ol buffett up in the State Park's Lodge overlooking the waters. The trees are getting pretty and the weather great!

Then, the gathering 16-22Nov07....basically a reverse of this route and on up to the tight upper waters past Mom's...OR...if just one or two boats end up making this fall gathering and Thanksgiving dinner @ "Momma Byrds'"... we may just sit at the docks, in Cadiz, KY, take out the Qumby's Guide.... and chart other waters from the Heartland Area for a weekish. We are basically right at the intersections of the Cumberland, TN, OH, MS rivers.... endless opportunities. Don't worry...we will make the Thanksgiving dinner by boat, plane, car, bus...something.

Sorry to hear about the family issues that kept some from coming, and Terry, tell Bonnie to retire as soon as she can. Sure will miss the two of you on this cruise from NY too. Sorry my "little buddy" Roger on SENSIE will not be able to make the Thanksgiving gathering due to a shift in schedules of some crops at the Farm, but see you when you can come.
