I will gladly offer to show anybody who wants to know how to properly repair gelcoat scratches and/or gouges. Maybe we can plan a day in October and I will open the shop on a Saturday? Let me know if there are any interested parties or if advice via email is sufficient.

Scott
I'd definitely be interested and would be happy to bring a grill and some salmon to feed attendees (within limits I have a small grill but a reasonable amount of salmon).

Sounds like we have the makings of an event! Lets pass this thread around to see if we can get any other takers, obviously smaller group size would be more efficient but I am open to anything. Does sometime in October work for you?

Scott

Early October would work for me. Would we possibly be able to purchase small bottles of gelcoat from the factory while there?

Maybe Tyboo could make a sign up sheet like a CBGT thingy.

I don't see why not. Let's think this through, maybe people who are attending could supply me with the colors that they currently have and I can make sure that I have the colors here at the time. Patch and repair is a truly a simple process so we will not need to block more than a couple hours out for whatever demonstration I come up with.

This is shaping up nicely, it goes hand in hand with what this site is all about.

Sincerely,

Scott

Mid Oct. would work for me. I have to be at a conference on the first weekend and will be in Victoria on the second one (running a half marathon).

Mid October would work for me as well so lets put that on the calendar. Somebody pick a date. I am running the Bellingham half in two weeks, it will be my fourth, how is the Victoria one?

Scott - didn't realize you're a runner. I haven't run the Victoria one before but the course is pretty flat so it looks like it will be quite enjoyable. I'm hoping to be under 1:50 and if things go just right, under 1:45. More likely, I'll be around 1:52.

Wow, I would love to break 2:00, I am more of a stumbler than a runner , the Vancouver half was my last and I was 2:31.

I'm very interested in seeing how an expert does gel coat repair. I should be able to make an October date.

All ten of my thumbs are twitching with excitement.

Somebody please shoot a video to post along with pictures. Can't make the trip, but the dabling I have done in gelcoat repair ranges from can't find the repair, to who screwed up the paint. I lack in consistency.

I'll be there!

As for specific gelcoats, I would like to order for a 2007 Tom Cat and a 2003 22.

Thanks, this is going to be great!
Warren

On edit, I see part #s for gelcoat in another thread. So the color does not change from year to year and from model to model?

I'm with you Peter. I have the day off but unfortunately I'm scheduled for a class that day that I am unable to miss. Perhaps, Peter and I can join in on a similar class at a later date. :wink
