Steve,

Glad to hear from you, I had your number and lost it- thanks for getting back to us.
I will send you the info and reservation card.
You will need to return the reservation card with a check (made out to me) and I will make all arrangements and payment to the Harbor Master at the end of the month.

edit- Do you have radar? We normally have a.m. fog this time of year. We pass Ventura Harbor and may have cross traffic exiting/entering Ventura. We also will be cruising between the Carpinteria Oil Rigs (3)- may need radar in order to "see" and miss them.

So far the following have returned the reservation cards and payment;
Fishtales
SEA3PO
Dive Cat
Dora Jean
Rana Verde
Islander
WaterLillie

Waiting on the following;
Li'l Rascal
Gismo

Talked with Andy, on the Koinonia, at Catalina. He said they will be joining us- haven't heard back from him as yet.

Looks like we'll have 9 boats attending.

Did you ask if Gismo has radar? Where could I put that on a 16' C Dory?
I'm joining you guys to find out the ins and outs of cruising. If there is fog and cross traffic, can I snuggle up to one of you big guys with radar off you aft quarter? To tell you the truth, I'm hoping that one of those big Pacific highs will be centered right over Southern Calif. That the weather and water will be quite. Those days you dream about. I know last Oct. was
pretty bad weather wise. My brother from SF blew out a head sail headed to the start of the Baja Ha, Ha, on a wet sail 32. I have my fingers crossed. If I can't do...I can't do it!

Steve,
It is mostly up to what your comfort level is. You are more than welcome to cruise with us. We will keep in radio contact. Keep close so you can maintain visual on one of us (there will be 6 cruising)

If, when we leave, you do not feel comfortable with the sea conditions, trailer up to Santa Barbara and we'll meet you there. That's what C-Pup did the last couple years.

I know it is do-able in a 16 if your up for the ride. I've been out 50+ miles in a 17 Arima getting albacore. Once you're off the beach--- water is water- it's all wet. :wink:

We have 9 boats signed and paid up. Slip reservations are made for the following vessels and crews;

Fishtales
SEA3PO
Dive Cat
Dora Jean
Rana Verde
Islander
WaterLillie
Li'l Rascal
Gismo

Anyone else that wants to come is welcome.
Slips will be first come, first filled- no reservations.

Talked with Pat at the Harbor yesterday, looks like we may be able to use the same dock that we had last year. Most of us will fit on this dock, some may have to be in a slip.

Roger or Chris,
I missed last years's gathering and forget what the pricing and proceedure is for getting a guest dock at CI Harbor.
It's always better to sleep in the boat while it's in the water than not. Can you guys refresh me?
Thanks!

Roy,
Not sure what the fees are at CIH. Get in touch with the Harbor Patrol when you arrive and let them know you need to tie up for the night. Should be able to contact them on channel 12.

Roy...just stop by the Harbor Patrol office...just a couple blocks south of the launch ramp...and sign up for a guest slip. The guest docks are just north of the ramp. Remember...don't pay for parking in the lot because it is included in the slip rental. Can't remember the fee...but as I recall it was inexpensive. I will be there Thursday afternoon, maybe we could cruise over to the Whales Tail or Port Royal for dinner?

Thanks guys.
Chris- I'm not sure when we'll arrive. Probably late evening on Thursday unless I can get on the road fairly early. I really dislike towing on the 101 during peak traffic hours. I'll have a better idea as the time grows closer.

Chris,
Since I get off work at 2:00pm I think we can get an early start and get there in time for dinner. Let's plan on it. If it starts to get late or you just want to say hello, my cell phone number is:
714 920-8505
We're looking forward to seeing you again!

Hi All,

I have had a lot of trips to Santa Barbara. I have a Brother-in-law living there. Really nice place to visit. If your into fishing, try the Santa Cruz Island. It's about 25 miles out as I remember but we caught Sheepshead and California White fish. Both are good to fish for and good eating. The Sheepshead are large with big blunt teeth and hard jaws for crushing shellfish. Their also very colorful depending on the variety.
Enjoy yourself and catch one for me. I'm in Maine and too far for the trip.
Dick

Gismo will be arriving at the Harbor mid-day Thurs. I'm coming from Santa Cruz on hwy 101 thru Santa Barbara to Oxnard. I think I turn off on Victory and head west to the Channel Isl. Harbor ( Oxnard Harbor ).
Is that correct?

Yes- take the 101 to Ventura and turn off on Victoria towards the harbors. Take Victoria all the way past Channel Islands Blvd, The ramp will be on the right.

As usual every year I'll be leaving Chan Is Marina early Saturday morning (son in school Thurs/Fri). I'll take any slip or position you want me in, probably arriving near 10am unless weather turns nasty. I'll call you, Roger, to give you a heads-up that morning.
