Joel -- safe travels. They were putting new macadam down on US 93 by Pioche so it slowed me down yesterday morning having to wait for the pilot car but it wasn't too bad - -just dusty as heck with the top down.

Looks like Sue and I have things finalized and will be leaving Durango, CO early Thursday morning for Halls Crossing. Hope to be in the water around lunch time. It is about a 4 1/2 hour drive. We will start down the lake towards Oak Canyon and hope to meet up with everyone on Saturday. We have to be back at Halls Crossing on Tuesday around noon to head back home.

Daydream is here with Traveler, first night at Bullfrog Bay (a GREAT spot we were really not aware of), last night at Smith Fork Canyon, and then tonight back at Bullfrog Bay. We also met up with C-Hawk and C3PO (say it aloud Dave - C-3 - P -O!) at Halls Crossing and Tex and Sharon were up Smith Fork on Bixby's Cub right across from us. I have some great pix, but alas, no Lake Powell 2010 album yet!

Daydream and Traveler slow cruised back down from Smith Fork Canyon to Bullfrog Bay on Tuesday, checking out the Moki Steps south of the entrance to Forgotten Canyon and fishing (but not catching - we need to see a boil pretty dang soon!). Back in Bullfrog Bay we had lunch, a swim and then just read a lot - we have done the sights the past two years, so we are just mainly going to relax in the sun this year! Then drinks, dinner and a movie on Traveler - Men Who Stare at Goats. It is amazing how little you can actually accomplish if you put your mind to it!

Jim - the blog is pnps.blogspot.com, but I am having some posting issues. Can't get blogspot to recognize the posts I try to do with Ecto (blogging software for the Mac) and for some reason I can't get the online editor to let me add pictures). I will eventually figure this out, but not now.

We put in at Bullfrog on Sunday, Sept. 19- we are back to our first beach area in Bullfrog bay and will be pulling out tomorrow, Wednesday Sept 29.
It was a great cruise and even better to meet so many others. There were 25 boats at Oak canyon this past Saturday.

C-Swell with Bill and Sue made it back home to Durango, CO tonight. We put in at Halls Crossing last Thursday around noon and left the parking lot around 1:00 this afternoon. It was a fabulous 6 days with fantastic weather. Temperatures during the day in the mid 80's and low 90's and at night in the high 50's and low 60's. Plenty of sunshine very few clouds. Water was from 70 to 75 degrees. As Roger mentioned it was great cruising with and getting to meet so many C-Brats I have only read about. What a great group of people.

There were 4 boats at The Rincon Thursday night, just us in Reflection Canyon Friday night, 25 boats at Oak Canyon Saturday night, 16 boats in Explorer Canyon Sunday night and 11 boats in Forgotten Canyon Monday night. Some how there was room for everyone every night.

Chris and Terry on Rana Verde and Bill and El on Halceon did a great job pointing out all of the highlights and features on our daily cruises. Casey on Katmai even thought to bring name tags which really helped with trying to learn peoples names at the pot luck Saturday night.
I took lots of pictures as so did others. I am sure they will be added to the Lake Powell album as soon as people get back home and have time to do it.

Already looking forward to another gathering next year.

Like many of my past trips to the more wild cruising places this gathering beat my expectations by a long shot. Would only have been better if Jo-Lee could have been there to share it with me especially with the full moon phase while there. What a sight watching it slowly appear above the canyon every night. Fantastic scenery, weather and water with superb company. Great seeing those whom I've met before again and meeting others who I only knew through their postings and photos.

Most amazing thing to me was the 25 boats all fitting into the area chosen for the gathering on Sept 25th at Oak Canyon Bay. When I met Casey on Katmai and John from Bakersfield there on the 22nd I thought for sure we would have to move elsewhere in the Bay to fit all the group in.

A special thanks to Casey for his supplying a list of the boats and the names of the people on them who planned to be at the gathering. It sure made it easier for me in face, name and boat association. Thanks also to those who gave much more then their share at the pot luck and especially to Tex & Sharon on Bixby's Cub for the delicious home made ice cream.

Jim and I got to Bullfrog on Friday, spent the first night near Rincon, and met up with the group at Oak Canyon on Saturday. What a great site to see all those C Dory's! Even better meeting all the wonderful people on those boats. A great potluck. Next night at Escalante, explorer canyon, and the next morn a guided tour by Bill and El of the Cathedral in the Desert in Clear Creek Canyon. Then on to forgotten canyon. We made a few side trips to sing in Music Temple Canyon and to see Butterfly arch and Rainbow bridge. It was sad to leave everyone so early this morning and I wanted to hug you all. Thanks to everyone for their hospitality, to Barry and Patti for breakfast, Casey for organizing it all. Toni and Russ, Pat and Patty great to see you again. Wonderful campfire stories and a great Harvest moon.
We are part way home, and back to southern Idaho. Have about 10 more hours home. We took out at Bullfrog around 9 am and traveled with Jody and the ever lovable Ellie Mae back to SLC. That made it more fun. Thanks to everyone, we had a wonderful time!

It's sort of mid-trip for me.

I'm currently at the Bullfrog Motel, using their Wifi, and will return to "Katmai" in a few minutes and motor up Bullfrog Bay and probably anchor-out with Dreamer and Traveler tonight.

The wx has been SPECTACULAR. Had some wind on Tuesday night (21st?) and the remainder of the time has been almost flat calm. Wonderful! the night's have cooled off to the point that a light sleepingbag is comfortable.

A Great Group, Great Weather, a Great Lake ... what's not to like, eh?

Best,
Casey

Thanks, Chris and all the other C-Brats who we met at Lake Powell. Next time I vow to be in better shape to deal with the heat!

In terms of the lake itself, we may be seeing the end of boating as we know it on Lake Powell if they draw it down to meet the needs of Lake Mead. See this article for more.

Patti and I are still at the lake, spent Wednesday night at the head of 7mile canyon, last night in iceberg. So beautiful here. Thanks to all, especially Chris and Bill. We are very appreciative. We are heading up Escalante now. Don’t know when we'll take out.@?

Pat, Patty and Daydream are safely back home in Fall City this evening! We had a fabulous time, put in at Bullfrog Sunday the 19th and pulled out Thursday the 30th. Cruised, kayaked, hiked, fished, ate, drank, swam, watched movies with Russ and Toni on Traveler for pretty much the whole time. Fantastic friends and companions, thanks guys! GREAT gathering at Oak Canyon, special thanks to Tex for both the ceviche and the ice cream. Thanks as always to Chris for the whole deal! Starting the planning for next year!
