Just a note. Let people know they can sign up on the Events Signup page. That way you can keep a count on who is coming.
We would love to come down without the boat. Don't have a reliable car to pull boat that far. It is about 450 miles from our house to Oriental by car. I will try to look up an overnight in Oriental. Sounds like a neat little place to visit. Would be fun to get to see other people work for a change. I don't think people realize how much work goes into putting together a gathering like we have on the Chesapeake.

Hi, We'd love to have you come down here ! There are a few B&B's down at Oriental. Thanks for reminding me to ask folks to sign up on the events page. We need to know how many in each group and how many boats. Not sure we have a handle on anything but we are trying. LOL Any advice would be great !

Tracy, I spoke with Carrie, and she has us on the list (for grub on saturday I suppose) but we are "Larry and Jo (Johanna)" from Asheville. I understand that there's a pot luck dinner on friday, but we probably won't arrive until late friday night (will the party still be going on at 9pm?). T-shirts?....not until we actually own a C Dory, but if the sales are to raise funds for some somethinganother...then we might be interested.
We're very excited about putting some faces to the names here, and it looks like this will be our first weekend away while ALL of our kids are off on their own or off to college (which means that we won't have to worry about what kinda parties have been taking place at home in our absence!)

The T-shirts are just to show that you were at the gathering. Not to raise funds for anything. Carrie is really good at knowing names and places. She and her husband are terrific at what they do. We are so lucky that we just happened to drive by their business on are way to look at a totally different boat ! We went back after our sea trial with a different kind of boat dealer. We were sold pretty quickly. We like to think of Carrie and Gene as our friends as well as our boat dealer. Ok enough rambling.. Take care..Tracy

Hi again everyone.. Please go to the Events Sign-up page and sign up if your coming to the NC Gathering. We need to know your names,boat name,how many in your group coming and if you want a slip reserved or t-Shrits what sizes and how many. The T-Shirts are 15.00 each. We really need to know asap if your coming. Mostly because Carrie is having our catered so we need to know how many to feed. Celtic music with a twist comes to Lou Mac Park on September 22 with the Thistledown Tinkers. Theirs is the last concert in this year's Loose on the Neuse series. The show is free and runs from from 5-7pm. Sample some of their music here.

Hi folks,
New poster here, been lurking a while. New owner of C-D25 Cruiser from Carrie & Gene. I'm sure you'll hear more from me in the future.
I got thinking yesterday, Whitaker Point or Whitaker Creek? Glad it's noted again now as Point(e). The directions by road are OK, but if you've been in the area by boat before, "Point" is fairly new, and the first place you'll see on starboard as you come in the channel. "Creek" is just a little farther on the port sort of, tho' you can go in more to the port to Deaton Yachts, etc. "Creek" has the fuel dock ahead. slightly port. "Point" is much less protected, particularly from a S or maybe even SW breeze, which is common here.
They seem to have a lot of empty slips, we oughta lobby for a better group discount, but maybe they get busy with transients on the weekends, we were by there Tues. (I don't very often kick hornets' nests)
I've talked to Carrie a few times this wk, she says she hasn't heard from very many folks re: attending. Better get in touch with her if you want to eat Sat. nite or get a T-shirt, etc.

I also just left a note for the Whittaker Pointe webguy asking that he change our name from Sea Dory to C-Dory in his pages for the event.

I play a little guitar, and a little native american flute, but Jo says that I play for my own enjoyment and the irritation of others...LOL!
