09/21 - 09/23 - 6th annual NC Gathering

The tee shirt order went to the printer. I might have one day of wiggle room left so... if you want a shirt please let me know ASAP.

A loose plan is in place. Ernie and I will be at the Marina on Thursday evening the 20th. On Friday the 21st will will have a meet and greet Pot-luck dinner at the Marina. On Saturday we will Cruise to Beaufort for lunch. On Saturday Night we will have a Catered meal at the Marina along with some fun and games. In planning for your trip the two most important things to bring will be a hardy appetite and a sense of humor

See everyone in Sept. It will be here before you know it

Greeting from the cockpit of Lady KC.

We arrived back home in Pinehurst on Tuesday
and today, Friday, we drove down to the
TomCat here in New Bern, NC

We had a great time at the Comox C-Brats Gathering, in British Columbia.
Martin had a good C-Dory game that I will bring with me to the 6th Annual NC Gathering.

We expect to take the boat to Oriental on the Friday morning.
If I get there early enough maybe Ernie will have time to give me a fishing lesson.

Hope to see you all soon.

Please allow a couple of new guys to join you. We just moved into our new home on Smith Creek (Oriental Plantation) two weeks ago and made a deal to buy @ 22 cruiser yesterday. Ashley is my neighbor here and my broker. Not sure boat will be in water for the weekend but we look forward to coming and meeting you all. Jim & Barbara

Jim and Barbara, New folks are always welcome. Please come and join us. We we new in 2010 . If your boat is not in the water you will be able to hitch a ride no problem.

We have just resurfaced and started thinking about fall.
We would like to come to the gathering--I assume it is too late for T-shirts?
Looking forward to seeing you next month.
Jackie & Bob

Bob and Jackie,
I am glad you two will be with us. I ordered a few extra tee shirts, so it depends on the sizes you want. Please let me know what sizes you need and I will check what I have left.

Erma

For T-shirts, a L and probably a 2XL--at least XL.
If you don't have them, no problem!
We look forward to the weekend.
What things are useful for the Friday evening potlock?

Bob and Jackie, I have the tee shirt sizes you need so I have you two on my list. Anything you would like to bring for Pot -luck will work.

Well summer has just about passed and the gathering is just a month away. I can't wait to to see everyone. If you have requests or special needs as time draws near please let me know. Ashley at the Marina will also assist as needed. Tees shirts should be back from the printer this week and I am really excited to see them as we have changed the color and the design this year.

See you all soon

Erma, it was great seeing you & Ernie at Toucan's the other week!

I just signed up for the event, although once again I question whether or not C-Gypsy will be in the water. If it were up to Pam our C-Dory would be in the water, but I always worry when I am in working in PA and she is the only person here.

Ernie? Don't forget about my suggestion. Tell the boss you are taking the weekend off. Hell, tell him it may be longer than just the weekend and you'll get back to him when you are ready to start working again!

If it helps I'll be happy to sign your timecard or write you an excuse. I remember mom doing that when I missed school. Of course that was about 50 years ago. Wait... Oh heck, I really AM getting old!

Al,
It was good seeing you guys.I am so glad you and Pam will be there. I will pass along you words of wisdom to Ernie and he just might take you up on that note, But I think you could use some of your own advice. I saw you post time was 4:17 AM I guess you still get up early even when not working or it could be you were still up from the night before?? Please tell Pam we want her to come and be with us even if you are in PA.

We just signed up. We currently are completing 3 weeks on the Eire Canal. We'll move to Thousand Lakes area for Labor Day and the week following. Then we will start camping our way south to arrive in the Oriental area the week before the gathering.

We will stay in the area for a few weeks (hurricanes permitting) and will be looking for good tips on where to visit. If anyone wants be a guide we'll gladly follow.

Will probably head south to the Gulf Coast in mid to late Oct with the goal of getting home by Thanksgiving.

Chuck & Penny

Chuck and Penny,

Glad to have you both with us. There are some many places and waters to explore in this area. The Dismal swamp canal trip is a peaceful trip. you can find alot of info about it on the Web. In the Washington NC. area were I live we have free 72 hour dockage at our waterfront. Bath NC is also pretty and full of history, also free dockage at the state dock there. New Bern is also a great place to visit for a few days. We will cruise to Beaufort during the gathering, but it is also a great place to spend a few days.
See you soon. Please PM with any other questions or for help of any kind.

Hello All,
It is now just twenty days away from the gathering. Here is the tentative itenerary.

We will meet for a pot luck dinner at the marina on Friday the 21st. Dinner to start @ 6:00 pm. Please bring a covered dish to share. On Sat morning we will cruise to Beaufort with a departure time from Whittaker Point of 8:15 AM (this will allow folks who have not been to the area an opportunity to enjoy the Beaufort waterfront). We will have lunch and depart from Beaufort no later than 2:00 pm. Catered BBQ and Chicken dinner will start back at the Marina at 6:00 PM Saturday night.

Things to bring: hearty appetite, sense of humor, one wrapped white elephant gift from each boat (this does not have to be something new. Look in your closets for that one special thing that you can part with, but someone else might just love). We all know "one man's trash is another man's treasure". We will use these gifts for our "Pirate Swap" on Saturday night.

The Wildlife Ramp is at the end of Hodges street. The Marina website is
www.whittakerpointe.com The address is 5001 Maritime drive Oriental NC. The phone number is 252-249-1750. (Ask for Ashley)

Please Email or PM with other questions or concerns.

I can't wait to see everyone!!!
