09/12 - 09/14 - Sequim Bay CBGT

The party has started apparently! The first boat has arrived and is tied up at the State park Dock. At 8:30 PM we took a ride down to the dock to check and sure enough, Blue-C was tucked into the primo spot and all lights were out. We were going to take them out for ice cream but thought better about knocking.

Looking forward to welcoming many more Brats tomorrow.

Well...been keeping quiet, as I didn't think we could make it. We've been in Port Angeles for the last couple weeks, but our original vacation plans had us leaving yesterday.

Plans have changed, and we're sticking around another week. Unfortunately, it's not so much for pleasure...we're knee deep in work getting ready for contractors showing up in a couple weeks.

We'll pop in Friday night for sure, but likely without boat. I've got two pork butts smokin' away in the new Cookshack right now, so we'll compliment the hot dog dinner with some pulled pork.

See y'all tomorrow night.

Bill,

That's very cool. Name Tags are printed and waiting for you. We're anxious to hear about the progress on Da Retirement Estate! See you tomorrow.

OK Brats, Its already tomorrow. Great thing about working nights, you can come to work yesterday and go home tomorrow. We are really looking forward to a good time.

Bill, Glad to hear you are sneaking in. It's OK to come "boat less" now 'cause we know you will be "boatin more" soon.

This will be my last post on here until after we get the dust settled Sunday night. We will be working later on this morning, and Deena is cooking up a storm. For any further contact til Monday please call 509-833-8869.

Have a great night and a wonderful morning,

Harvey

Good Morning Everyone,

We left Bellingham yesterday about 9:30 am. Stopped in Anacortes for a get-together with a family member & arrived later in the day at Port Townsend. The water was just awesome. My idea of a great day.

It's blowing pretty good here this morning but having been out there in tougher stuff, we feel like R-MATEY will get us to Sequim safely...and Bill & Dana, we're just thrilled that you aren't going back to CA this week and that we get to enjoy the pleasure of your company once again.

Looking forward to seeing everyone. We'll be on our way soon after the cook makes breakfast. Oh, BTW, have to be thankful for a great internet connection here at Safeway while we enjoy a Starbucks (which don't match up to Bill & Dana's lattes).

For those cruising in today.... including Ruth & Joe on R-Matey (who's last entry shows them in Port Townsend (P.T.)), looks like there is a Small Crafts Advisory for the eastern Juan De Fuqua Straits area (which would mean ~ P.T.).

From the Weather Underground Marine Forecast it says the following:

Small Craft Advisory in effect

W wind rising to 15 to 25 kt. Wind waves building to 2 to 4 ft. Areas of fog.

Tonight

Sat
N wind 5 to 15 kt. Wind waves 1 or 2 ft.

Sat Night Through Tue

Hopefully, things will calm down and all will arrive safely.

Take care,
Dan & Tanya

In checking the Smith Island and Hein Bank weather stations, the winds are around 10-11 kts. There is however fog over the entire straits. It's not too thick as we are looking down on it from 800' elevation. I imagine it will burn off by mid-day. We will be available for reports from here until approximately 11:00 AM. After that, call Harvey or I at 360-460-3894. Travel safe.

Hi all, We are at friday harbor right now. spent the night at Matia last night at the dock with the folks and my brother and sister inlaw. kind of windy last night and very rolly at the dock. We left larrys slip in Everett at 11 am and cruised north to deception pass thru fog on and off. Once to the pass the fog was ON. could not see the bridge or the boat on my radar screen. Tight fog all the wat to skyline marina for a pit stop for the dog. I once we got to fidalgo it was all smooth and clear skys. We got into the dock at 3pm. 4 hour and 25 gallons I think to go 80 miles. not bad. We meet a new c-dory owner at matia. He just got it and is from Bend Or. His wife left yeaterday after 12 days aboard. We also say a 24 tom cat as we entered friday harbor.

We thought for a moment to heading south to join you all after our nap but its nice and warm here and the ice cream is caling. we are going to catch a movie and dinner then head home tomorrow. Say hi if you see us out there. :D

Thanks to Roger and Harvey and your wives for a wonderful weekend. Toni and I couldn't have thought of a better way to end our 2 1/2 weeks in the San Juans. It was great meeting and visiting with everyone, hope to see you all at the Seattle boat show in January. Pictures will be posted in our album sometime this week.

BIG THANKS to everyone for coming up and helping us a have a real good time. We had 12 boats there over the weekend, including a Brand new to C-Dory couple, in HunkyDory, a blue stripe, 1990(?) 22, which may be the Hunky Dory I wrote about in the "Do you fish alone" thread. We also had a visit from a local to Sequim couple in a "Toland 18.8.", tan, from a while back too. Besides the 12 boats, we had a couple of non-boat folks there. Paul and Verla (JC Lately), who sacrificed a weekend on the water for the privilege of working as C-Brat transportation department. The other boatless Brat was Bill (the C-Brat Nerd) came and brought a generous supply of smoked, pulled pork. Roger and Janet also helped a lot with transportation, computer services, hot coffee and generator, and shower tokens and lots of other things for arranging.

It was really great fun, thanks to all for coming, sharing and participating. Thanks for the many boat tours, the cool tricks, the great food, and the fun (and funny stories). Great times everyone. Looking forward to seeing you all here again next year, and at SBS CBGT in 09.

PS: Will try to get some pictures into the album, I got a few.

Hi All,

Just got home after a beautiful weekend on the water. Great to see everyone in Sequim. Nice to meet some new folks. Great food and thanks for the interesting speaker. Big thanks to Harvey and Deena as well as Roger and Janet who set it all up. Sign us up for next year!

Thank-You

My apologies for missing a surprise guest at the gathering. Barry on C-Cakes came all the way from Oak Harbor, Whidbey Island! Sorry this wasn't included in the previous post regarding attendance.

Harvey & Deena, Roger & Janet, Paul & Verla,

Many thanks for everything that you did to make our stay at Sequim so enjoyable. The transportation, the food, the wonderful hospitality.

So good seeing folks that we haven't been able to visit with in quite some time and meeting some new C-Brats, too.

Not enough can be said about Bill's pulled pork. What a treat (Don't tell Byrdman but he's got competition).

Barry (C-CAKES), sorry that we missed your visit at the dock but it was fun having a short chat with you when we met you out on the water on your way home.

We just had a wonderful time. I can't begin to say how much it's appreciated that the date for the Sequim CBGT was moved up to the middle of September :thup :thup

Thanks again everyone for the nice words. I had a lot of really good help. Deena is great at more than driving the boat, which she does very well too. Roger and Janet seemed to have everything that we needed at just the right time, and Paul and Verla, were Johnny On the Spot, (play on the boat name intended) with the transportation, before during and after the events. It is a privilege to work with such a great crew, and it makes it even better when the result is such good fun, food and weather and tides.

We have some photos from the weekend on a site called "Phanfare" and if you would like access to see them please PM me an e-mail address accessible outside of the C-Brat site. We will then put you on the list of invited guests and you will receive an e-mail notification to check the Phanefare site for the "slideshow". We will try and get some onto the album here, but it is taking a while.

Thanks for coming to Sequim, and don't forget to check the pictures on the album here too. They are very good. Thanks to the admin (Bill or Mike) for setting that up.

Have a great night, Always, and..........

You all come back now, ya hear :wink :thup :thup
