One Month to Go until the
09 Sequim Bay St Park CBGT
Curious if those that are planning on coming are interested in having another marine oriented speaker?

Unfortunately, I'm unable to attend this gathering due to work. Perhaps you should invite the Wa. State Ferries Chief David Mosely and the Wa. State Dept. of Transportation Secretary Paula Hammond and have them address the devastating wakes of the Big Green and White boats at the Friday Harbor Customs dock... :wink .

(I can see the headlines now...."C-Brats Create Huge Wakes For The Ferry System Hierarchy")

Dave, great idea, however, in view of a recent thread, it may be more appropriate to "subpoena" them to a venue just north of us at Friday Harbor, and I'm sure we could provide a boat ride there too  .

Sorry you won't be able to be here, we will miss you. I know you love your job, Me too, and a side benefit, :smile it helps pay for boat gas :wink

Adrienne and I have plans to be in the San Juans at that time. Weather and courage permitting we'll cross the strait and be there.

Chester crew, we will be waiting just south of Cattle Pass, under the Blue Hole :wink looking forward to seeing you folks again.

In 32 Days, 09 Sequim Bay State Park 09 CBGT.

We're looking foreward to seeing everyone again.
Good location, great people and good times. :D
OK Harvey, I give up. What is the Blue hole? :?:
The Waggoner Crusing Guide says mornings are the time best to cross and ebb tides can cause trouble. It looks like the mornings of the 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th show flood tides so the wind will decide crossing conditions.

I'm quite certain that what Harvey is referring to is that Sequim is one of the few locations in Western Washington that has blue sky over it, while the rest of us have gray clouds overhead. Hence the blue hole in the gray clouds.

Dave is right about the "Blue Hole" and just to be honest, it is raining buckets outside right now.

Listen to weather on WX4. Check the winds at Race Rocks, (they will be the highest usually) then Ediz Hook, (Port Angeles), New Dungeness Lighthouse, Hein Bank will give wind and wave height, and then Smith Island, so you have the winds all the way around. Most often the winds are best early in the morning, (hour or so before daylight to a couple of hours after or so.)

Others may have some other and better tips but that is what I do and then go out an do a look-see.

We are unfortunately compelled to announce that we will be unable to attend the Sequim gathering due to family visiting from Montana that fly home on the 13th, followed by my surgery in Seattle on the 14th.

We will miss seeing all of you!

I have to admit that this is one of the oddest CBGT message threads I've ever read. People trying to sell boats and wondering how to anchor their boat from 2000 miles away...oh well.

Roger and/or Harvey,

We signed up for the CBGT, but we can't leave Edmonds until around 4 pm on Friday. I read about the winds, do you anticipate they'd be problematic around 6 pm when we figure we'd be coming in?

Once I'm there...is it possible to buy a boat that is anchored? :?

Thanks in advance,

Variety, ah, the spice of life

And yes, there is a very promanant, locally anchored SB that I'm sure is for sail at the right price $$$$$$$ :wink

As to the winds, My crystal ball is suffering from a bit of morning fog today, but it is not uncommon for the late afternoon to evening winds to lay down. Obviously that is dependant on the high and low pressure systems over the area and current daytime temps, but as the government says YMMV.

Glad you are planning on coming and we are looking forward to seeing Pingu and crew.

Speaker or No, Have not heard a peep, here on the sit, PM, or email. Sounds like that might be a no or a I don't care. It's OK with me either way, just thought it might be a learning opportunity.

I was at the Park this weekend and the Ranger was down on the dock asking when the C-Dories were coming. Says he looks forward to us being there, as we are such a nice group.

You all come on now,

Reading Harvey's post, where he refers to the plural of "C-Dory" as "C-Dories" causes me to pose this question: is it "C-Dorys" or "C-Dories"? I maintain it is the former because "C-Dory" is a proper noun. If we were talking about some generic dory, then I would allow how it is of course "dories." So who among us claims to be the official grammarian?

BTW, we will be on the road to Lake Powell as the Sequim CBGT is happening, please hoist one for us!

Pat, I think my Freshman comp prof would agree with you. (My Bad there) Our boat, when we originally got it had "Dorie" as half of the name. The first half was the owners name, the second half was his wifes, as in "Jim's Dorie". Obviously not a good excuse for bad grammar :cry

Thanks. Gonna talk about it this weekend. I'll let you know....

We won't be able to make it. My wife asked for it off, but they only gave her the 8th thru the 11th off. :( Have fun! Maybe next year!
