09/06 - 09/08 - Vancouver Island Gathering 2013

Nomad is planning 3 nights in the Gulf Islands following the gathering before heading North. Hope we can get a good little group together and go exploring. I bet George on "Kerri On" knows all the best spots.

Martin.

Daydream is planning on being in the San Juans from Tuesday the 3rd until Friday the 6th, when we will arrive in Sidney. Not long but 3 days is better than NO days! And just look out for us NEXT year!

We are going to be in the San Juan's early. Thursday , Sept. 5th, we will be at Prevost Hbr on Stuart Is. It is a short run over to Sidney. If your in the area, meet up there for a sundowner.
Terry

Great to have you join us! Thus brings us up to 19 boats at the moment! I have just been in touch with West marine and the marina and will post an update later today.

• Breakfast suggestions: Beacon on Eggs (http://www.beaconandeggs.ca/)(near West Marine), Pier Bistro (http://www.alpinegroup.ca/companies/sidney-pier-bistro.html)(near marina). Please feel free to use Google or TripAdvisor for suggestions! 

• Depart Sunday 8th late morning (or afternoon?)

The potluck will be held in the event tent on A dock. They have 8 tables and 35 chairs as well as power. I will bring a small portable BBQ if someone needs it. We are also allowed to BYOB!

I will likely have my truck around and can “ferry" people to harder to get to places if needed.
There are good buses from Sidney to downtown Victoria(#72), Bretwood Bay (#83) and Butchart gardens (#81) (http://www.transitbc.com/regions/vic/schedules/map.cfm?p=map.rname&&Region=20 for a map of the area)

Hi Mike,

Great job on the itinary. Please mark Andrea and myself down for the Westmarine visit.

I see Fish on 5th does not take reservations. No prob, I was on the school rugby team.

Cheers,
Martin.

They say they won't, but I am trying to contact the manager to see if we can get in.
So, if you would like to join us Friday at Fish on 5th, please let me know in this forum or by PM

Hi Mike could you put myself and Carolyn on for Fish on 5th? Thanks. We'll be cruising as long as good weather lasts this fall. Likely to Annette Inlet, Ganges, Wallace, Conover cove and Genoa Cove etc. cruise in company with a few boats would be cool. George

Possible Scotty Tour on Friday 6th
Terry suggested that there might be interest in a tour of Scott Plastics factory which is in Sidney. They are a Monday to Friday operation and could run a tour for a group of us at 10 AM, 11 AM or 2 PM. The tour takes about 45 minutes, and they can handle groups o f 6 or 8 at a time (could run two groups at a time if there is interest...

Please PM me if you are interested in a tour of Scott Plastics (http://www.scotty.com/index.htm on Friday the 6th. Let me know which time(s) works for you.

I can't make the 2 PM slot myself but am throwing it out if that works better for others. I would like to go and could make the 10 or 11 AM ones.

Great! Looking forward to seeing you again and chatting about your round the island trip. Want to say anything about it at the potluck? Appropriately, you are boat #20 to register!

We are heading north this Friday late afternoon/early evening hopefully. We have off from Saturday August 31st thru Monday, September 9th (back to work early on 9/10).

No definite plans except winding up at Sydney some time Thursday, August 5th. Hope to see some of you out there on the water during the week.

Please put us down for Fish on 5th for Friday!

Looking forward to seeing everybody. Stay safe out there!

Take care,
Dan & Tanya on C-Renity (Hannah staying home this trip)
