OK, I have confirmed Sept 6-8 with Port Sidney and they will have a bunch of space for 20 or so boats. We will need to get people to do individual reservations etc (they want a credit card which will be refundable up to 48 hours prior)...
What is the next step for getting tis set up as a "gathering" on the front page?

I set Mike as Group Moderator/Cruise Director on the event signup list since he made the request and sent me the nice email. Usually it is the guy who starts a cruise thread who gets tapped for the illustrious position, but don't worry, Martin, the title is largely symbolic and you aren't missing out on anything! If there is beer to be had then Mike should be getting your first one.
I was out at Scotty Plastics today getting my downriggers switched over to braided line and asked if they offer any tours of the plant which they do on a regular basis so just a thought for the September gathering if there is any interest. About 10 minutes from Port of Sidney.

I just talked to Kerry at "Fish on Fifth" and they have seating for up to 50 if we call ahead a couple of days. They have a pretty decent menu, great fish and chips and even sell T-Shirts :shock: Might be a lunch option for consideration. Would include a bit of a walk through town. (Five to Six blocks.)

I have been in discussion with Port Sidney Marina (http://www.portsidney.com/), and they have indicated that they want us to call in to 250-655-3711 and make a reservation which requires a credit card. They have a 48 hour cancellation policy so there is no worries in that regard. Depending on how many we have, they will decide where to put us, but the earlier we are the better. So please go ahead and call in to let them know you would like to reserve a spot. (I don't seem to be able to reserve them for you!)
The group name is c-brats...
Their rates are $1.50 per foot (plus 5% tax now!) plus other charges as indicated at:

I am going to make more detailed plans after going to the Friday Harbour CBGT but at the moment we should definitely plan on:
Scott plastics tour if there is interest
Dinner and/or lunch at Fish on 5th
Visit to West Marine on Beacon ave?
Trip around some of the local islands (Sidney Spit? D'Arcy, Portland?)

I am really looking forward to this. It is the perfect CBGT at the perfect time, and in the perfect place and now I may have a conflict. I will need to wait to sign up until after the big work process that is going on is completed. May not know until mid July. Will sure be watching this and planning to come.
